"It went great! We tried to work with Lowe’s but we could never get the help needed. We used John 30 years ago. The guys he used were very professional and worked hard to finish in one day. They came back for a couple hours the next morning and moved furniture back. We are more than pleased. John Raper’s prices were less expensive but with great quality. We highly recommend them for any type of flooring. We saved a couple thousand dollars going with them!"

"Christopher carpet was on time, very professional and the quality of work and pricing was beyond my expectations! The professional crew were punctional, removed shoes when entering house and once price was approved work began! Not only was I satisified of the stretching (approximately 1400 sqft), the crew vacuumed the entire house and removed all left over carpet! I would recommend them to my neighbors and family. On a rating of five stars, 5 being the highest, I would, no question about it, work performance and professionalism rate them as 5 stars Thank you William (Bill) Chatman"

"Chip contacted me within hours of receiving my inquiry and provided me with a very competitive estimate. Chip brought his co-worker Dennis to our home a few days later, which just happened to be New Year's Day, and completed our carpet stretching project in a matter of hours. Chip took the time to explain what was happening with our carpet and walked me through how he was going to fix it. When the job was complete, he and Dennis had everything cleaned up and looking AMAZING. I am so incredibly happy with his work, and will hire him again for any future project. I highly recommend Chip...five starts isn't enough to rate Chip, his crew, and the work they did for us! Absolutely outstanding!"

"Raleigh Flooring did carpet in our living room and tile in our bathrooms and it turned out AMAZING! From start to finish, they were great at communicating and were super easy to work with. They got the job done in three days, even though there was a shipment delay from one of the suppliers! Raleigh Flooring kept us up to date and finished in a timely manner at no additional cost."

"I've been using TCS for both new installs and cleaning on my rental properties for the past 4 years.  Their service has been perfect each time!  Their prices are fair and they always show up on time and do quality work!   Today's install was business as usual.  They showed up on time, did a great install and thorough cleanup and even repaired a section of carpeting on the stairs other installers would have charge extra for. Thanks for the great service!

"Tom at DR Restore was great to work with. We had a pipe burst in the unit above causing substantial damage to our condo. He responded immediately and was at our condo that night to work on the mitigation. He explained the process upfront and was with us every step of the way. He has been a valuable resource through the mitigation and repair process and I would highly recommend his services."

"Carpet was removed & hardwood installed in living room, dining room ,hallway & stairs. Robert came out with samples & helped me in making a final decision on the flooring. The price was lower than other estimates I had gotten although that was not the deciding factor. The workers were professional & did a beautiful job on the floors. Thank you to all at Floor Zone!"

"The repairs went OK. One month later the replacement board split the full
length. I have called twice to discuss options to fix it and have no
response to my voice mail. I will now send a communication via Angie's
message system.

"The replacement board on the step has cracked. I am attaching a picture. I would like to have the defective board replaced.DSCF0001.JPG(2447KB)DSCF0002.JPG(2437KB)
R Harward Construction11/23/2015If
you have not painted or stain decking board it will crack. We do not
make the wood. We just install it. If you would like to purchase another
board and have us come back out we can. We will charge $99.00 for a
service call. Or you could caulk and paint board and you want need to
replace it. Thanks Randy
Patt Cowder11/24/2015Your
carpenter told me that it was treated wood and should be allowed to
cure for at least 2 months before painting. I don't think any treated 1 X
12 I have ever used has split the full length after installation. Your
guys were supposed to come with a 1X12X12ft to cover not only the step
but the full section of the porch. They called to say their local Home
Depot only had 1X12X8Ft. and I agreed that would work to replace the bad
wood. I will now find someone to replace your work with good wood and
stand by my critique of your work on Angie's list."

I was contacted personally by the owner.almost immediately
after message to apologize for his employee's responses to the problem.
He came by and fixed it the next day.  |Patt Cowder

FAQs for carpet repair, refasten, or stretch projects in Chapel Hill, NC

Removing a rug costs around $0.40 to $0.50 per square foot. This includes the fee for a contractor to roll up the rug and haul it away in a vehicle for disposal or recycling. If they need to move furniture, they might charge an additional $0.25 to $0.30 per square foot of furniture.

If your carpet has minor damage—like a single area that requires stretching, patching, or cleaning—it might be less expensive to pay for carpet repair than remove and replace it. Repairing carpet costs around $210 per project.

The cost of carpet cleaning is about $190 for a three-bedroom home, so it’s a good idea to have your carpet cleaned at least once a year. But most carpeting only lasts 10 years. If your carpet is nearing the end of its life span, it might be more cost-effective to remove and replace your carpet than to clean and repair it. The average cost to install a new carpet is about $1,800.

Search our directory of carpet removal companies and services to find an affordable, screened contractor near you. All HomeAdvisor listings are vetted, reviewed, and rated by homeowners, so you can be sure to find a local pro qualified for your project. Get at least three quotes to compare prices and the timeline for your project.

Commercial carpet removal usually costs on the lower end of the carpet removal price range, around $1.10 per square foot or even less. Carpet installation contractors often offer discounted rates for larger projects, like commercial carpet removal and installation. Similarly, you might be able to negotiate a lower residential carpet removal cost if the carpet is pulled up throughout your entire home.

Most cities accept old carpets as bulk trash, but you may need to schedule a special pickup and prepare the carpet properly. Remove any nails or glue residue, cut the carpet into manageable pieces, and roll and secure them. Alternatively, you can take your old carpet to a local recycling center for a small fee, where it can be processed and repurposed.

Yes, you can remove carpet yourself if you're ready for a labor-intensive task. DIY carpet removal requires heavy lifting and tools like utility knives, pliers, and pry bars. The process is generally straightforward but time-consuming for stapled-down carpet. If your carpet is glued down or you're worried about damaging the subfloor, hiring a professional is best to ensure the job is done safely and efficiently.
