"I prepared a scope of work document for our 120 year old house and spent several months interviewing contractors, touring them through the project and conducting pricing and material/method reviews of their bids.
Chris from Allstar was literally the only one out of seven that got with the program in the first round.
Chris included all items on the scope doc in his bid. After much deliberation some of the items changed as I decided to approach them differently. I made detailed notes on five of the bids and asked for pricing revisions. Chris was again the only contractor who took this request on quickly and revised his bid accordingly within a few days. He is also easy to talk to - gives you the straight assessment of what should be done when unseen conditions present a challenge and can address whether or not that is aligned with the original plan. All of this is so valuable to me as a homeowner and as a person who is about to drop a large sum of money on a project.

They also fixed a problem on the roof around the chimney; they replaced the wood around the chimney with a material that would never rot, so they fixed it even better than it was before. "Richard (owner) takes a lot of pride in his work and seems to know exactly what he is doing and what to look for. He inspected the roof by actually walking around up there. 2 other companies also gave me an estimate and one of them just inspected from yard. Richard started the the job himself and then a team of 2 men came out to finish job the next day and were also very professional. From what I see, all work was completed as specified and they did a good job of cleaning up. The only thing that I was surprised at was how dirty my windows got from the whole process. I have since (after the fact) noticed that one of the other companies that bid the job said they would not be responsible for dirty windows. I would have liked to have known up front because I spent over $400 getting windows cleaned this summer. But, I cannot blame Viking for getting them dirty as this seems to be normal."
