"When you hire an electrician, you’re usually bracing yourself for the worst. Enter Cash Electric. I hired them to install a new electrical panel and rewire a few chaotic circuits, and they did a phenomenal job. My breaker box went from a nest of copper snakes to pure, organized wire-art symmetry. Everything runs flawlessly now. I could power a small rocket launch from my garage and my lights wouldn't even flicker. Beyond the top-tier craftsmanship, their crew showed up right on time, worked fast, and left the place spotless. Plus, not to make things weird, but I’m pretty sure their crew could easily pull off moonlighting as Chippendales. Let’s just say they make safety gear look exceptionally good. Zero complaints, zero hassle. 10/10 would recommend."

"Mr Wade Sharp was quick to respond with information and a fair quote. He arrived ahead of the prescribed time and finished ahead of schedule. I appreciate his ability to communicate clearly the details of the project ( I had a lot of questions). The charger is working great and I would definitely hire Sharp Electric again for future projects."

"Pat went above and beyond to make contact setting up the service, understanding the issue, and resolving the electrical problem. He even called our previous HVAC technician who thought the problem was electrical to explain the electrical issue was only part of the AC problem. Pat was communicative, fair, and professional throughout the entire process. I recommend him and ERI Electric without reservation!"

"I purchased a hot tub from someone over a year ago, but didn't get it set in place or wire until recently. After getting it wired, the tub wouldn't fire up. My dad installed a new motor, but we still couldn't get the jets going. I gave Joe a call on Monday he said he would be out Wednesday or Thursday. I received a call Tuesday morning saying he could come out today. He was very thorough with checking all the components of the tub and explaining evertything as he was doing his thing. Unfortunately my dad crossed the wires and forgot to hook up a few others. About an hour and a half later, I had a fully functioning hot tub. He even took the time to explain to me how to clean and properly care for my spa since it is my first one. I will definitely give Joe a call for any future hot tub needs.

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Clay City, IN

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
