"Mark and his team were beyond awesome. After the first pump just after Christmas, I continued to try leach field treatments and tricks but no luck. Mark and his team started work first week in March and had two prices, one with a standard drain field and the other with an overflow tank and pump. With current code and drainage requirements mine needed the additional tank and pump put in. The whole job takes about five days and that's with prep, clearing, installation and inspection. So, give yourself time and patience but don't think it will fix itself. Mark showed me an old drain line which was completely clogged with roots and although the others were clear, there was good soil to allow biomat drainage. Bottom line, these guy's know what they're doing and offer a great price compared to other contractors."

"Had issue with septic tank overflowing when heavy use such as washing multiple loads of laundry. Had 2 other septic tank companies and both immediately went to "you need to replace your drain field". No analysis or testing just straight to the $10 K to $12 K estimates. Then Jeff from Tampa Bay Plumbers came out and explained their process. The end quote for a new drain field was about 4-5 k less depending upon if we had to have a a pump also installed. That was awesome to hear in itself. But first he said that we should do the following, pump out the tank and then get to the distributor box and see if may be something was wrong there. Wow he was going to actually diagnose the problem. Refreshing. So their techs came out the next day, one pumped out the tank while the other dug around the distributor box. Low and behold the box was filled with sludge. The system is over 20 years old. He thoroughly cleaned out the box and tank of sludge and the pipes leading into the drain field. Those too had some sludge about 2 feet from the box but he was able to clear them as well. So although we suspect the drain field may need replacement in the future, we think we have a few more years before that is needed and appreciate a company who wants your business by not jumping to the most expense "fix" when it is NOT necessary. Professionalism and honesty earns them my plumbing and septic work from now on. If you are smart you will always call them to at least get a quote for any of your plumbing needs."

"Hired Tampa Bay Plumbers to perform septic inspection for a pre-real estate sale and to give estimate for connecting home to sewer. Excellent customer service before appointment and excellent communication/ease of scheduling with office. Technician and helper arrived on time, discovered they were unable to complete Inspection due to condition of septic, showed me the problems, explained options, and re-covered the septic system with dirt. Professional, polite, helpful, and honest. The customer service was excellent from calling an hour before arrival to coordinating the estimator to arrive at the same time as the inspector. I will now call Tampa Bay Plumbers for all my plumbing needs. I highly recommend this company!"

"While functional most of the time, the septic system never worked as expected. Patrick pointed out the problems and promptly repaired the system into excellent working order. Patrick was pleasant, professional and very efficient. We were pleasantly surprised at the cost of the project. Would strongly recommend this firm!"

"Not sure of the price because I'm a renter, but I had a leak behind the wall of the master bath which left my entire walk-in closet and half of my bedroom under 2" of water. Since the plumbing was old. the owner told them to replace it all. Took 3 days but these guys were so pleasant to be around.Knowledgeable, efficient and personable, what more could you ask for?

FAQs for septic system installation and replacement projects in Clearwater, FL

Most septic system replacements require several days to complete, not including permitting and preparation time. The process begins with site assessment and testing, followed by excavation, component installation, and final inspection. Weather conditions, property accessibility, and inspection schedules can all affect your project timeline. Your contractor can provide a more specific estimate based on your property's unique characteristics.

Standard homeowners' insurance policies don't cover septic system replacement due to age or normal deterioration. Coverage may apply if damage results from specific covered events, but routine maintenance and eventual replacement are generally considered homeowner responsibilities. Review your policy details or speak with your insurance agent to understand your specific coverage limitations.

Look for multiple indicators such as slow-draining fixtures, unusual gurgling sounds in plumbing, sewage odors inside or outside your home, or wet spots in your yard. Unusually lush grass over the drain field area, frequent backups, or recurring repair needs might signal system failure. Addressing these warning signs promptly can prevent property damage and health hazards.

DIY septic installation is not recommended and may violate local regulations. Professional installation ensures compliance with health codes, proper design for your specific site conditions, and appropriate safety measures. The specialized equipment, technical knowledge, and permitting requirements make this a job best left to licensed professionals who can guarantee the system's safety and effectiveness.

With proper maintenance, including regular pumping, a drain field lasts 20 years. Various factors influence system longevity, including household size, water usage patterns, and soil conditions. Regular professional inspections can help determine when replacement becomes necessary. If your system requires increasingly frequent repairs, replacement might be more economical than continuing to address individual problems.
