"Amazing system! Did a lot of research on alarm systems....so glad I went with 1st security! They came to my house and explained everything to me, were not pushy at all. Came and installed the system a few days later....took the time to explain everything to me and did an amazing job with the installation. And the price is excellent, both the installation fee and the month to month. So happy with my decision."

"When American Jewel installed the door I gave them A grades as I thought they did an excellent job. But after using the door for a few weeks I noticed the dead bolt didn't close completely, but only about 2/3, and also noticed the screen door was no longer aligned properly, so although it closed and looked right, the door was slightly off and it would no longer lock. I called American Jewel and they scheduled the installer to return and make the minor corrections. The installer did not show up. When I called American Jewel again, they did not return my calls. I complained to Angie's List, and via their complaint resolution process American Jewel contacted me. They were very apologetic and attributed it to a mix up, accepted responsibility and sent the installer to my home to make the minor corrections. I would use American Jewel again, despite this hiccup, as my wife and I like the door they installed, feel we received excellent value, and ultimately American Jewel followed through on the minor problems I described and corrected them all."

"Workers arrived on time as scheduled. We had a little snafu with the building rules; my building requires that the hallway from the elevator to the apartment door be covered with masonite. They were not prepared for this, and providing this service cost an additional $275. So if anyone else is doing this in manhattan, I recommend you check with your building codes and make sure everything is worked out ahead of time so that there are no surprise extra costs.
The guys were very courteous and efficient. The floors look beautiful, and there is minimal dust. Overall, I am quite happy. I would recommend them.

"John and crew were just terrific! They put down a bead of special caulk to keep water from trickling into the basement. The crew came promptly, spent several hours cleaning and preparing the surfaces and putting down the caulk. They cleaned up nicely before they left. John felt that the caulk was just a temporary solution since the slanted porch causes a puddle of water to soak up against the house's cedar shakes. He refused to give us a bill for the time he spent here because he didn't think the fix was permanent. We will ask him to replace the porch when the weather gets warmer. We're thrilled to have such a caring and competent contractor!

"Everyone involved in the window installation process from the Window Source was absolutely amazing! Even the price was very reasonable. They did an excellent job of being professional, especially Jim. When his employees showed up, they were well organized, respectful, and very efficient. They had one person responsible to clean around the windows (before and after, including vacuuming), one guy responsible for removing the windows, and one guy to install the new window. I was glad to see Jim stop by to confirm the progress of the window installation during the day. He asked us how we felt things were going and if we had any concerns. This showed that he cared enough to build the relationship with his customers. Also, while he stopped by, he was courteous enough to take a quick look at the backyard sliding door, which wasn't working right. Even though it wasn't his responsibility to fix, he took two minutes and used his expertise to quickly repair the door. Even Julio (one of the people installing the windows) was very professional and was kind enough to help re-install some of the curtains that would have been difficult for us to put back up. Overall, we had a great experience. We will definitely be reaching out to them again, and would definitely recommend them to anyone that needs to look into window repair or installation."

"We were not pleased with the work of this company. While the price is right, there were so many things that went wrong on the job that I'm not sure if I can remember all of them.
First of all, when I hire a painter, my assumption is that they will work on my job only until the project is complete. This was not the case. The painters left the job for days on end, being called to other locations. The work was sloppy in numerous places - we had to keep calling them back to correct things. I also had bedroom furniture damaged when the workers moved my end tables to another room - they didn't take the care necessary to protect them. Walls under light covers/cable covers were not painted - they were left the original color of the rooms. My bedroom wall has cracked in one place already - as they didn't do the repair needed in that area evidently to prevent that from happening. Paint has chipped in other areas - something which should not happen so soon after completion.
At exterior painting they also didn't take care to protect elements of the home properly. I had paint spatter covering newly installed railings at my front walkway, stains applied incorrectly on wood lattice which they installed (numerous empty areas - should have used a spray gun for that or painted it before installation), totally ruined my exterior balcony door with using too thick a layer of paint on it. There were paint brush hairs all over the door as well, paint on screens (why they weren't removed or covered is beyond me), spattered paint on a custom mailbox, and the same on our house number plaque.
There is more, but I'll just leave it at it was an extremely sloppy job which took literally WEEKS to complete and I was told it would take less than 1 week.
While there were some circumstances that made the job take longer (some weather related and some of his workers having personal problems), the amount of errors exceeded what would be considered excusable.
The only good thing I can say is that from far away, the house looks ok and, the owner Phil (others mention a different name, not sure why) tried to be as pleasant as possible throughout this.

"Jim first built the supports for the porch roof, he then removed the support pillars, the railing, the floor boards. On inspection, the Beams and Joists were not to spec, he came and discussed replacing the beams and joists, and gave an estimate for the replacement. On agreement, the lumber was ordered and provided. The foundations were inspected after the removal of the framework, we had epected the beams and joists to be replaced, but not the foundations which were the original from around 100 years ago. New foundations were placed with modern materials. The work took just over two weeks and it was hot ... we only had to deal with Jim the owner, he provided a detail estimate at the start of the job, and detailed estimates for the add ons, all of which were detailed and within the budget. The original estimate was $13,000, at the end with changes the final cost was just under $17,000 and worth every penny. I will say we did not have to do anything, Jim worked with the city for permits, we just provided checks as needed. Kim has followed up on his work letting us know when we need to oil the porch deck and wax the ends. I would hire Jim for almost any job."
