"though I appreciate the emergency Saturday service call (cost 169.00), I thought the additional charge of 303.00 (450.00) for a diagnostic check and repair ( no parts necessary - just less than a hour of manpower) was a bit exorbitant. perhaps I failed to realize that heating/ac personnel are paid on the equivalent scale as neurosurgeons."

Small jobs welcome

"I hired Mr Handyman to do two projects in the past week in Downingtown Pa. A toilet seal replacement and also electrical work for some light fixtures outside of the house. They sent Damon for both projects and he did outstanding work! Besides the work he did he is a great guy! He is so nice to speak to and answers any questions I had in very detail. Thank you again Mr Handyman company and also Damon for the exceptional work! I will definitely be recommending and I will also be calling back! Thank you!"

"All work was excellent, from the initial meeting to diagnose the problem and work to be done, to the work itself: removal of the old-and-failing heat pump, installation of the new Bosch heat pump. The crew (Kahlil Hunter and his apprentice) were efficient, professional, tidy, and pleasant. And everything's working fine now!"

"Extremely frustrating experience. After receiving a proposal and paying a deposit, it took almost two months just to get the job scheduled and I had to repeatedly follow up with the office to make that happen. The work was finally scheduled, but the day before the appointment I received a text saying the technician could not make it. In the same message thread I then received another confirmation for the original appointment followed by another message referencing a new date about 10 days later. The same text chain contained confirmations for two different dates, making it completely unclear what the actual schedule was. I ultimately had to call the company myself to figure out what was happening, and I never received a phone call about the change. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this company."

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Coatesville, PA

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
