"Pat made sure my new home was up to par by performing a complete Home Inspection. He made absolutely sure everything was A ok before he left. He checked the septic system, insulation, signs of wood infestation pests, performed a water sample analysis and conducted a Radon emmisions test. He even followed up by returning to the property a few days later free of charge after I noticed something after the initial inspection. He made one of the most important steps in buying my first home stress free. He displayed a very good attitude which made him very approachable and easy to talk to. He made suggestions on the minor repair work that was identified and gave approximate times at which I should address each task. <br />"

"I originally called Andy to get a quote when we needed to get our house inspected fairly quick. After leaving him a Voice Mail he got back to me and provided me with a full detail explanation (over the phone) of what his service covered, how he went about doing the inspection and roughly how long it would take. This to me was very important when choosing him over any other competitors. He took the time to explain even PRIOR to him even getting the job. We setup the appointment for the next day. <br /> Andy was punctual, professional and ready to start the inspection by the time we got to the house. After some preliminary paperwork and some explanation (again - which I loved) of how we were going to tackle the day we started the inspection. <br /> He was very knowledgeable, explained and answered all of my questions and concerns and even suggested different ways as to how we could mitigate some of the things he pointed out if we decided to move forward with buying the house. <br /> We received our full report via e-mail in 48 hours as he had indicated we would and we are currently waiting for the lab results from the Radon testing. After spending 4 hours going over every inch, nook and cranny of the house we were extremely satissfied with Andy's service and would HIGHLY recommend him for anybody in need of a house inspection. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"excellent. from the moment of contact, Chuck was exemplary. Above Grade covers all of your inspection needs. Chuck responded before any other inspector and was able to schedule our appointment within the week. i immediately told Chuck that i planned to treat our inspection as an educational moment and he basically turned it into a class. he explained his notes thoroughly and why they mattered. he made it a point to discuss common emergencies and how to halt them. he recommended a fantastic book that breaks down how home systems work. i was very inquisitive and he really seemed to enjoy sharing his knowledge. our appointment was at 1230 on a Wednesday and our initial report was a sent the very next morning. Radon results and Water are all i had to wait for. Chuck has continued to answer my questions about the results and has remained amazingly polite and professional. he has been exceptionally helpful and kind. he appears to truly love what he does. he treats you like a friend. i strongly recommend Above Grade for your home inspection. you will not be disappointed."

"Lance made the whole process seamless and worry-free. From discovery of my homes elevated radon levels through system installation and completion of post-installation testing I felt that I was in good hands at all times. The cost of work was competitive with other quotes I requested, but the personal attention and responsiveness I received was truly the most valuable part of my experience. It was also welcome to find a company that values innovation and stays current with latest technology. No other company I spoke with offered a rapid testing alternative with time-based readings of my homes recorded radon levels. Thank you Lance for putting my family back to ease."

"Mike came out for an estimate based on mold sighting during my home inspection and was very friendly explaining everything he would do as part of the service and information about thier warranty and product. He came back about a week later to treat the infected area (attic) and even asked about the basement and took a peek to make sure it also was not a problem, which he confirmed wasn't. Mike followed up to verify that all of the mold was killed a week later and followed up a second time by phone. He also advised me to look into venting my attic sometime in the future to improve overall air quality. I would and did recommend Mike to other people and use him again in the future."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Congers, NY

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
