"While the contractor was late, he did call. My shower valve only put out hot water. In order to fix it, the entire system had to be replaced. It took a long time, but he was able to do the job without destroying the whole shower wall system. In other words, he took apart and soldered pipes in a 6" circular area. That was great. Shower works fine now. 
He is to come back and install electrical boxes in ceilings of two bedrooms along with fans.

(a defective shower cartridge) I have used Choice Home Warranty multiple times as my home ages and they pay for the replacement parts if needed. My "deductible" is a $45 fixed rate for the service call, no matter how long, or complicated the repair is.
