"For the actual garage door, that was the price.  We did contract with them to do additional work of insulating the garage door the same day that he was here.  There was no additional cost for what they had stated that they would do for us with the garage door opener.  In fact they actually upgraded it because the one that they were suppose to install wasn't available.  So we upgraded to the next level.  It was installed on January 24th of 2017.  I think the price was better than what we had seen.  We were very very satisfied, in fact, it went above and beyond our expectations."

"Beyond our expectations. We were told automatic garage door couldn't be installed. Installer made it work. Door is quiet, works marvelously. All personnel we have been in contact with have been courteous, friendly, helpful. Appointments are on time, sometimes sooner. We are both elderly and this door is such a benefit for us. We are on fixed income and found costs to be very reasonable."

"I pay a monthly fee to CHW for insurance against equipment failure. Over a month ago CHW sent a repair technician to fix both of my garage doors, the technician made an adjustment on one door and chanced the opener on the other. A week or so ago the second door failed to open. Yes, my door opener is old, but the Warrantee says, if it can’t be fixed it will be replaced. CHW paid the tech $100 and said the rest $200 is on me. Please tell me why I should stay with CHW if I have to pay 2/3rds of the cost to replace the door opener? On a separate issue: Granted I accepted CHW’s offer of a Lowe’s card to replace my dishwasher, because I was unaware of how much dishwashers sell for, it cost me an additional 300. Again, please give me a reason for staying with CHW"

"Prescott Garage Door called for an appointment the day I checked Adviser and Joel the owner came within a couple day and on time. We were given every option you could think of but for the price we decided to get a new door and opener being ours was 27 years old. The following Tuesday Joel was here bright and early and did the job himself and when finished spent time with us telling everything about our purchase. I will highly recommend Prescott Garage Door to everyone. Thank you Joel for a job well done!!"

FAQs for garage door opener repair or adjustment projects in Cottonwood, AZ

Garage door costs range somewhat broadly, depending on the type you choose. However, you’ll also need to factor in labor costs, which vary from state to state and between pros.

A chain driven operator costs between $150 - $250. For a belt driven operator it is usually $160 - $450. A screw-driven operator is between $250-$500.

To keep garage door opener repair costs down, you should check that the whole apparatus is working normally on a regular basis. This means making sure that the tracks of your door are greased and fully operational, and that the door itself is in good condition.

Installing a new garage door opener runs from $250 to $500 at least. If your repair costs are close in cost to that range or if your garage door is 10 to 15 years old, you should probably replace it instead of repair.

However, it’s a better idea to fix your garage door opener if it’s less than eight years old or if repair costs are less than replacing.

Garage door openers usually last between 10 and 15 years. However, several factors contribute to how long your garage door opener can last. If you schedule regular inspections and practice proper care, you can maximize your garage door opener’s lifespan, saving money in the long run. As a general rule, practice the same care for your garage door opener as you would the door itself.

These tell-tale signs indicate your garage door is going bad, including:

  • Not closing or opening at all

  • The door reversing when you try to open and/or close it

  • Inconsistent opening and closing; more noise than usual (grinding, scraping, or banging)

  • Sticking or stalling when you try to open or close it

If you experience one or more of these signs, it’s time to call a professional garage door repair service.
