"Matt of Reliant Gas Lines installed an underground natural gas line for an outdoor fireplace at my home. He was very conscientious about communicating and confirming his schedule to perform the work. He arrived as scheduled and did a really fine job with the installation and also making sure that the area was cleaned and organized upon its completion. There were no surprises with the job and I will be reaching-out to Reliant Gas Lines to perform some future planned work."

"Well. Naz responded quickly to our request. It started out as a water tank replacement, but due to the smell of gas in front of our home when exploring a place to vent the new water tank, we had to have the gas turned off. An inconvenience in July, a real issue in the middle of January! Naz got the new lines in to our water heater and furnace right after the gas company sleeved the existing line and returned our service. He came back the following week to finish running the remaining lines for the gas dryer and stove."

"Recommended by local gas company. Professional and polite and highly skilled. Converted stove from propane to gas for hook up. Extended a gas line approx 12 inches to complete hook up. I supplied parts for gas conversion. I do not think this work required 3 laborers. My failure was not getting an estimate in advance. Given the price of the work, I recommend this company to those in the top 1% of the country's income bracket not to those on fixed incomes. $800."

"We have had 2 recent opportunities to have the Reynolds Plumbing crew here for work. Two weeks ago to re-plumb a bad job done by the previous owner in the basement/laundry area. The second was yesterday to replace a 17 year old water heater that suddenly decided to spring a leak. This was the second and third time I had them do work for me. Extremely great quality and price. They don't normally do emergency work, but Lori was able to get me on the schedule and they installed a new heater within a few hours of calling. Price and quality of work beats any Home Depot or Lowe's job."

"They are excellent, I have been using them for my plumbing work for the last 10 years. They have installed a gas water heater along with a chimney line preventing of the gas lighter heater and Changed filter on whole house filter and reverse osmosis filter and installed new faucet on basement sink. They come regularly to change filters as need. They provided excellent plumbing advise. I recommend them whole heartedly."

"Matt Mertz Plumbing is my go-to. We have an old house. They have been in business for a long time. You will find more expensive plumbing companies out there who do not have their expertise. I have tried a few of their competitors over the years. We needed a few things to be done. I scheduled an estimate appointment. Phil came out, work a mask, boot covers and got to work. I walked him through what we needed. He inspected, took measurements. After about an hour he was done. He estimated the price and it was a bit below what I thought it would take. The tasks would take two guys, a full day and include a new wash tub and a few other items. Most of this was labor intensive work. Breaking apart the 150+ lb old concrete tub and replacing with a new poly tub on top of pipes, rerouting things, cracking the concrete floor...lotta stuff for two people to get through in a day. I got the written estimate from Phil in my email the next day. I signed it and we scheduled the work. A week later, Hunter showed up (like Phil called in advance and was a few minutes early). Hunter had a mask on, boot covers. We checked out the basement, talked about a few things and he went to work. Jim from Matt Mertz arrived a little later for the dishwasher part of the job. These guys worked non-stop. We reviewed the job at the end of the day, and I noticed the pipes were not away from the window enough as I needed. I should have mentioned this early morning when talking with Hunter as this was a bit tricky. My bad. No worries though. We discussed a 2nd morning for some alterations. Jim came out a few days later and suggested a way the pipes and vents can be made to be removed versus trying to reroute things. Excellent. Jim changed cut the pipes added clamps and pieces that connect the pipes together. He explained what I needed to know when I want to remove them. I talked with Kate at the office for the reschedule and she was as good as it gets (understood what we needed, checked things were ok, confirmed, coordinated schedules, etc.). Phil, Hunter, Jim and Kate. Such a team. Oh, and Jim took a few minutes to show me how to tighten my RO water system’s water inlet valve (extra item I was wondering about). He was happy to share ideas and his experience. If you have not contacted Matt Mertz Plumbing for your plumbing job you should give them a call."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Cranberry Township, PA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
