"I wanted my front patio redone. Patrick quoted the job and gave great suggestions to alternative solutions. He and his crew worked on a weekend due to weather and did a fantastic job. The quality of work is top notch. It was not the lowest quote that I got, but I feel that I got what I paid for which is premium work and he is very easy to communicate with. I watched the work as it progressed and there were things he considered that I never would have as a DYI person. I have a few other jobs to be done and I definitely plan to hire Patrick and his crew at Turf Tech."

"Brad and Bruce did a nice job on my additional gravel parking area. It did take extra day due to family emergency but they were very careful not to damage my existing concrete driveway. They got to my job inside of a week which was great. They did everything that I expected and my family does this for a living in Florida so I knew what it should look like. Thanks guys for moving that fallen tree."

"Extremely happy with their service. They were on time and charged the price that I was quoted. It was a difficult job because of the tight space, but they took their time and did it right. Cleaned up well. I would used them again."

"The entire job exceeded my expectations in many areas. The crew was on site and on-time every day. The owner, Brian Selleck, was on-site multiple times a day, was responsive, always made himself available for questions, paid attention to details, and had great suggestions. At the end of the project they come back for a final clean-up, including pressure washing of the driveway, sidewalk and patio. I also received a follow-up phone call from him after completion asking how the project went and if anything needed follow up. The entire project was professionally executed and handled. If I have any future projects, Boss Construction will be first on my list to call. The attached photos are the completed walls. Still needs fencing and landscape."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Cumming, GA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
