"The owner and the staff at Your Day Off Lawns and Landscape provide exceptional lawn and landscaping at reasonable prices. They make sure the customers are completely satisfied with the work performed. Your Day Off has been my regular Lawncare service for 25 years. Most recently I had my flowerbeds redone with stones, borders, new plants and trees and it is beautiful! Over the years they also extended my patio with pavers and did a excellent job and the patio looks amazing even after all these years. The owner and employees are hard working, customer focused people and I will continue to use them for many more years."

"I could not be happier with my new backyard! This was my third backyard by Fresh Start but my first experience with Jeff and Rita. They designed a complete backyard for my home that was built a little over a year ago. In addition to the landscaping they extended my existing porch with pavers, built a fire pit with surrounding bench, and installed a custom water feature. They were able to figure out exactly what I wanted with just their initial consultation. I only made two minor changes to their original design. The plants gave me an array of leaf color and shape and were beyond my expectations. Their crew was punctual, efficient, and incredibly talented. It’s easy to see why Fresh Start has been in business for so long."

"I have done business with IOE for almost a decade and as I had them do more projects the more frustrated I became. It was a different and much better company under the original owner Bret. Since Cory has taken over, all he does is make the sell and send you the bill. When I have an issue, it will take him over a week to respond. In a recent project I hired IOE for was to replace my fence. The installers used too long of nails which came through on the neighbors side. My neighbor shared his concern for safety and when I contacted Cory, it took him 3 days to respond and longer than a week to resolve. I don't know if they have gotten too busy but when you spend money you expect them to respond especially when it is regarding safety. If you hire IOE here is what you can expect: expensive cost, long/poor response times and a laundry list of excuses from Cory. I would not recommend."

"On December 30, I approved the estimate and let Jakob know I wanted to move forward with the installation. I purchased the bathtub and fixtures and communicated to Jakob that everything was ready. After hearing nothing, I had to call and ask when I was scheduled due to his lack of communication. January 14 was confirmed as the installation date with Jakob. NO ONE showed up and there was NO CALL, NO MESSAGE, until Jakob tried calling me after 3 p.m. ON THE DAY of installation-far too late! Reviews matter, and based on my experience, this company is unreliable and unprofessional. I would not recommend them."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Cypress, TX

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
