"I needed a light fixture switched out for another and Lightning Bug was able to get me on the schedule right away. Steve was awesome and got the job done quickly. He also did a courtesy check on my electrical panel to make sure everything was okay before he left. I highly recommend Lightning Bug Electric and will definitely use them in the future!"

"I called M.J. Power to get a quote on replacement for my electrical panel as our home was built in 99, in Bridgemill. I set up an appointment and was pleasantly surprised with how quickly they came out. The quote was a better price than the three others we were given. We are so glad we chose them to do the job. Jake was friendly and knowledgeable and finished the job on time. He also guaranteed his work and said if we ever have an issue to simply call him. I highly recommend M.J. Power if you need any electrical work done. Satisfied customer here!"

"Hamrick, electric wired my home, I was and am still happy with their job. Which is why I approached them for my Generac. I could have payed less, but decided on Hamrick because they are local and the product I think superior to others. Wasn't real happy with the time line, 3 or 4 months. Sometimes hard to get a real person on the phone. The gas contractor although excellent took I think to long. But, again couldn't be happier with the installation. The installers were stellar, very happy with their work. I wish the warranty would have been explained better other than x years on one thing and x years on a other. I really don't know what it is. Overall I give it a 4 + star."

"David showed up on time (a few minutes early) and we discussed my concern. He ran his diagnostics and suggested the fix. We also discussed the problem I was having with a ceiling fan and he was able to do a quick fix on that while he was here. He gave suggestions for some future considerations without being pushy like some of the electrical companies I’ve dealt with in the past who pushed to make changes where changes weren’t needed (commission based companies). All is well in my house now and I’m at peace with my electricity. I highly recommend using this team as well n house - Camille - is also quite helpful asking the right questions before sending out a tech. "

Customers say: Super punctual

"Hey guys, I had an electrician from BriteBox, come to my house to investigate a problem I thought I had. As it turned he (Mark Henderson), the electrician pointed out while checking my electrical panel of something that could be gave down the road. We live in our homes oblivious to what lurks beneath the surface. It's almost, as if you need to take an electrician, along with you on your househunting endeavors. Too ensure the property you may buy is within code, certainly, if it's an older home! By the way he Mark, solved the problem with the original reason for the call!! "

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Dallas, GA

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
