"Very happy with the patio addition, and walkway they did for me. They also adjusted my fence for the concrete so it would still open. I would highly recommend them and would be more than willing to show before and after photos."

"Designer Concepts is a professional organization that is evident from the time you set up an appointment. Ryan's design was spot on - we made no changes to his initial design. While a record setting rainfall in June that pushed back our project to the fall, the team communicated with us to let us know when we could expect it to begin. The installation team worked hard each day and completed the project two days sooner than the projected timeline. They were prompt and very respectful of our property, sweeping the street and our driveway when necessary at the end of each day. When Cory recommended the shed be stabilized, he was able to do the work for much less than what he originally estimated, for which we were thankful because we had not planned on the additional cost. When the installation was complete, Ryan inspected the finished project, providing further confidence in the emphasis on quality that is evident by their organization. Even the sodding process was impressive as the team carefully graded and leveled the area to be sodded, fertized and laid the sod. After 2 1/2 weeks of watering, it's hard to tell where the sodded area begins and ends. They are excellent at communication and provided a trimming and pruning list for all of the plants installed, which is very helpful. This is the fourth project Designer Concepts has completed for us, and we have been pleased with each one. I would highly recommend them for any landscape project. <br />"

"Mike is a college educated man; he is intelligent, experienced, and has excellent communication skills. It was a pleasure to work with him, and we anticipate a long relationship as we develop our country property. <br /> He knows what he is doing, and started with a survey of the land. Once he understood the topography of the land, he developed a plan and an estimate. His equipment is in good condition and his staff is experienced. The work began on time and proceeded on schedule. He did a good job and there were no surprises. Some parts of the project came in under budget!"

"Prairie Edge was great to work with. We hired them on two separate occasions, first for a waterfront retaining wall and stair set, then again for another retaining wall and land prep for native seed planning. All crew members were hard working and respectful of our property. Steve walked us through the his design ideas which were beautiful, broke down the bill to the level of detail requested, provided cost trade off options, and ensured we were happy with the results. We did not get a large number of competitive quotes but did feel that the work, particularly given the detail and expertise, was worth the proposal. $12K for 2014 construction of long keystone four-foot tall keystroke retaining wall, 5 x 7" keystone stairs, cleanup and rock under 18x18 foot deck $13.5K for 2016 construction of large keystone three foot retaining wall around outbuilding, $4.5K for restoration/seeding site prep of almost two acres of land plus trimming of various bushes around house."

"The installers called as they were leaving the shop to say they were on the way. They were quick at dismantling my old  counter top and getting the slabs in place. One of the backsplashes was just a hair too high for the space and they took it back to the shop to correct it.  My original slab cracked as they were lifting it and I had to use an additional piece. You would never know that these counter tops were from 2 different slabs. My counter tops are just gorgeous. The fit and finish is beautiful. I remodeled my kitchen on a shoe string budget doing most of the work myself just so I could afford high end counter tops. It was worth every bit of it. If you are doing a smaller kitchen like I was ask to see remnants, they can save you hundreds of dollars. In fact, it was only $200 more for me  to go to granite than 3D laminate. <br /> If considering natural stone tops this is the place to go. <br />"

"I had ugly rubber tile in my skating rink that covered concrete and wanted a new updated look. Jeff and his crew basically moved in for a week and worked around my schedule so I didn't have to lose business while this massive project was completed. They worked round the clock, grinding and honing the concrete applying a beautiful stain. The result was spectacular and my customers are so happy, they say the rink looks so clean and new. We never have to do anything more than a light buffing once a year to keep it looking new. Polishing concrete is durable and environmentally friendly.  Their staff was professional and paid great attention to detail, spending the time to do it right."

"Provider mowed my large yard and ditches very well at a reasonable price.  I was extremely impressed with the trimming as most lawn care providers do not do such a hot job at that. <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Deer-creek, IL

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
