"Better than excellent. They saved the day by adding us to their already full job list and came the same day I called. The plumbers came in, explained what there were going to do, found the leak and fixed it. Incredibly thankful for the great service."

"He replaced the facet with one that was better for me. The original one always started leaking after about two months use and I would have to replace the grommet. The he installed is a faucet that does not require a grommet."

"We had an appointment scheduled with another plumber at 6pm at a new house we had purchased in Commerce. I got a call from that plumber at 4pm saying they could not make it because they were caught at another job and did not know when they would finish. We are still living in Dallas and had to move schedules and drive an hour to get here to meet the plumber. <br /> I went to Angie's list and found Doug Powers with Powers Plumbing. I explained my situation and he told me he could be at the location within an hour. He was right on time. <br /> I explained what I needed done, and he proceeded to get right to work and got our new sink, faucet, and disposal installed in just a little over an hour. He then fixed a leaking water line, that we had to have fixed prior to a new refrigerator being installed the next day. He had to make a quick run to get a part and fixed the problem exactly the way we wanted. <br /> They were extremely professional, and did an excellent job on all that they did. They cleaned up after themselves and everything has worked exactly the way we wanted and expected. The best part was the cost was not near what I expected based on my experiences with other plumbers. It was very fair and reasonable. I felt I got great value for what I paid. <br /> I will use Powers again and highly recommend them. Their responsiveness and the quality of their work was a breath of fresh air in the plumbing profession. <br />"

"<p>I no longer live in Del Rio, but I have a rental house in Del Rio. My renter called and said there was a leak in one of the bedroom ceilings near the A/C. I used Service Now because of an Angie's List review, and they promptly returned my call and scheduled service or the same day. The technician called me after his assessment and clearly laid out the options for repair - it turned out to be a clogged drain line.  They offered different levels of service (Silver/Gold/Platinum or something like that), and he explained the difference without a huge amount of sales pressure.<em>  </em>I opted for the lowest level of service, and I guess it worked out OK - my renter says there's no more leak. The prices weren't cheap by any standard, but not outrageous either; I would say the high side of fair.</p> <br />"

"It went great, after a small problem at the start. I had decided to hire a contractor, that I thought could do the job, and I would be there to work side by side with him. After one day, I realized that it wasnt going to work( he portrayed himself off as a finish carpenter , but turned out to be a framer at best!! When a couple of the guys at Hootens heard of my dilemma they put me in contact with a carpenter that was so good , that we ended doing more work <br />"

"The workmanship was excellent. The anchoring, structure, and trim work was strong, straight and very well made. The tie in to the existing roof was very professional and all seams were sealed. The gutters were designed and constructed to fit perfectly. These gentlemen were courteous and very respectful to me at all times. They commuted with me promptly at all stages of the project. A very pleasant experience."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Del Rio, TX

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
