"I called to schedule service on a Sunday morning and the door was fixed the same day. Santino explained what he was doing and what the price would be before starting the work. He was courteous and explained what he was repairing. I would definitely use his business again and recommend to others."

Small jobs welcome

"Derek was friendly and professional and his work was impeccable. He replaced my back patio door and my front door. He communicated with me during the process and got input when we needed a new doorknob because the old one no longer was a good fit. I would absolutely hire Derek again and really appreciated his work."

"Luis did a terrific job on my projects. He installed shutter, repaired my gate, cut an overhanging limb and in stalled brackets for gazebo curtains. I will hire him again! He was timely, friendly and charges were very in line with what I expected to pay. Don't hesitate to hire this pro!"

"He did a very nice job- he came out gave me an estimate and got started a week or so later.  He took his time and was very concerned that I was happy with the job.  He would recommend repairing something over replacing to help save me money which I appreciated.  He was very professional, I would definately use him again."

"They came and got measurements of all windows and discussed options. They sent an estimate later via email. They said it may take 2 days to complete inside work and 1 day to finish up the outside work. They were able to finish the inside in 1 day and came back later and completed the outside in less than 1 day. They worked fast and were thorough, and cleaned up afterwards. I had to replace the windows because of rotten wood and nonfunctioning windows from previous owner. They stained the inside wood to match the existing frame and even matched the outside framing very well. The windows look great and are energy efficient. They even block some of the traffic noise that was loud before replacing the windows. They did a great job. I would definitively recommend this company. I had 1 window that would slide down and wouldn't stay open but they sent somone to fix that, and now it's fine. <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Des Moines, IA

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
