"It was a couple of months ago they did the work.  It's fabulous and amazing.  I'm very happy with them.  They are incredibly professional and they are pretty flexible with work hours.  They worked with my schedule since I work full time.  They were truly professional and I trust them.  The biggest thing for me was that they were super clean.  They cleaned up after themselves when they were there and when they left.  I didn't have to walk behind them and I pick this opportunity to say that they were on top of everything.  They were wonderful.  Their professionalism was the main part because they worked for hours and they were very trustworthy.  Their work was excellent and they were willing to go above and beyond with their service.  I had some loose hinges so they just went through that and did them for me.  It was not a big deal and they didn't charge me for it.  They were really nice and very courteous.  They were excellent.  I'm actually having them quote me for something else.  They did a wonderful job and I was very pleased.                   "

"Jake and his team are truly incredible. I have dealt with a lot of contractors over the years, and NONE of them come close to the experience Parkstone provided. Every other contractor wanted to tear down my fence and start from scratch, but Jake quoted me for both costs: to repair or to replace. I opted to repair it to keep my costs down, and they went right to work. Showed up when they said they would, kept me updated on progress, and the pricing was fair. I was relieved at the start and thrilled at the end. Since having mine done, I think 3 or 4 of my neighbors have gotten them to do the same. Definitely coming back to Parkstone next time I need any work done on my house."

"They listened to what I wanted. I had a bathroom that I was doing in an outhouse motif and they put the sink in an old wine barrel. The bathroom had been added to an old Victorian house and it had no installations. They replaced all the inside dry walls and then moved all the siding and I had one installation put in. They replaced the siding and one new window. They were not cheap but on the other hand the work was great."

"Richard Cranner with Cross Cabinets looked at the broken drawer on my Grandfather's dresser that I had inherited.  I was afraid that the drawer could never be replaced.  Richard made a brand new drawer to match and with the stain he used. I can't tell which one is the new one.  Very pleased with this restoration."

"I bought a foreclosure property and there was a lot of work to be done. He does painting, fencing, and flooring. He does hardwood flooring and tiling. I haven't used him yet for that, so I cannot attest to it. He charged me $50 to unplug some plumbing and tighten them up. He then put fixtures on for me. He is phenomenal and does unbelievable work. I recommended him to an attorney. He works on his own and does not want to work for anybody. He is very good. I used him in 2009 and part of 2010. He is planning to remodel my bathroom. I am toying with the idea now."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Dixie, GA

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
