"After an extensive process of having different contractors evaluate my home & submit their estimates for the installation of a Bosch tankless boiler/water heater combination unit as well as new baseboard heating, I selected AStar Heating & Cooling. Their staff impressed me from start to finish. Initially, I met Aaron who provided a thorough explanation of how the work would be done, offered other options that I did not know of or considered at the time, and provided a fair estimate that was similar to most of the other contractors. Next, when the time came for the projects to be completed, the technicians, Robert & Trevor, were on point. They always arrived in a timely manner & started working right away. They worked efficiently & quickly to get the projects done in the time frame promised. However, they did not rush, they took pride in their work & made every effort to make sure the work was completed neatly & done properly, as they thoroughly tested out the systems to make sure their were no issues/problems in their setup & performance. They also thoroughly answered my questions about the installation of the new systems as they went about their work. At the end of each workday, they made sure to clean up the job site & were very mindful in not dirtying my new floors by wearing plastic booties whenever they had to walk over them. The Bosch tankless water heater/boiler combination unit has been working without a hitch. I barely notice the difference in the time lag of receiving hot water in comparison to the old 40 gallon tank water heater I previously used. Overall, I highly recommend AStar Heating & Cooling. High quality work done high quality professionals. All of them put my mind at ease on what was a very necessary home improvement project."

when Sergiy was on time for the estimate.  We walked around the house as I went through my list of repairs. For each item he was thoughtful and explained what the repair would entail.  At the end of our walk through he gave me back a copy of my list with his "estimated" amounts.  I asked him how close is his estimate to actual as I have read on Angies' list massive cost overruns by OTHER providers.  Sergiy said that the price is the price and barring any major revelations the price would not change.  He is true to his word, even though he ran into several issues he did not change any prices and even we had agreed on an extra item he did not charge me for it.  

Sergiy came to do the work with 2 other workers in his crew (Nick and Victor).  They are both very hard working with a no nonsense approach.  Each day they came and started around 9:00 am and would finish after 5:00 or 6:00.

They put in full days with only a short lunch break.  They both do a quality job.  My Town Handyman's business model is that Sergiy contracts (and estimate) is for labor only.  He scans and emails all copies of receipts for materials  including receipts for materials returns.  He expects payment upon completion of each of the projects which I listed but only after I was happy with the job.  Sergiy has a very discerning eye and reviewed each day's work done by Victor and Nick.  There were times when he was not happy and would have them re-do parts of the job before he would tell me that it was done.  I appreciated his model as it is contingent upon my being satisfied.

His communication was great.  He dealt with issues calmly and what was in my best interest (e.g. I had also contracted to have my roof redone by a different provider and in the middle of Sergiy's work I get a call on a Sunday night from the other provider informing me that they will be at my house with a dumpster on the following morning at 8:00).  I contacted Sergiy that night and explained my situation.  Sergiy was very accommodating even when the other provider didn't pick up the dumpster on time thereby delaying when Sergiy could do my driveway.  Call and use My Town Handyman, and you too will be writing glowing reviews."

"Unfortunately I didn't have time to read reviews on the brand of hot water heater installed. It was a Bradford White. The reviews are horrible. I guess I just have to wait and see how long it lasts. There were also complaints on the water heater relating to the warranty."

"I specified that it was a tankless water heater, yet not surprisingly I was referred to a plumber who didn't know anything about tankless heaters, resulting in a waste of a couple of days. The second person did know about them, and so far the repair is working (fingers crossed). I wish CHW would pay attention to the details in my claim."

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."
