"I called several septic companies to get prices on pumping and Title V inspection. The prices from RM Ratta were reasonable and I was impressed with the responsiveness and positive attitude of the woman who worked with me to schedule the service. She knew that I was selling my home and looking for a soonest-possible appointment, and I was happy that she was able to fit me in within a week.
The inspector arrived a little early for a 9:00 appointment. I had already dug the tank cover and he proceeded to locate and hand dig the two other lids -- to the tank baffle and the distribution box. I wished that I could remember the inspector's name. He was personable and customer-service oriented and he answered all of my questions and worked carefully. He took particular care to remove sod chunks from my lawn so they could be replaced afterwards without much sign of the excavation. A colleague of the inpsector's arrived a little later to pump the tank, and he did this care and skill. I was gently admonished for going longer than recommended between pumpings, and given a good explanation of why: to prevent solids from building up in the tank and ultimately making it through the baffle (where only liquids should pass) and ultimately compromising the septic field. Believe me, this hit home, as I awaited the results of the inspection of the baffle and d-box. The inspector had some challenges locating the d-box -- there was a 90-degree turn in the pipe that led to it and when we finally got to the box and lid, we could see that the liquid was at just the right level in the trench pipe outlet from the d-box. Big relief on that, confirming the system was performing as expected. Also, big relief that the design drawings I had showed compliance with current Title V criteria. I would use RM Ratta again without hesitation, but don't expect that I will, as I am moving to a home with a public sewer connection.

"

"For months I've been having "gurgling" sounds in all bathroom fixtures when taking a shower. I replaced a leaking pipe, and the plumber (my cousin, very reputable) did not find any blockages. But he said if it continued he'd call New England Drain Service. He told me they were honest and very good at what they do. His main caution: "Do NOT call RotoRooter, they will charge two or three times as much." Well, it happened yesterday in a new and alarming manner, Couldn't remember the name, so I called my cousin, who called me back and said they would be here within the hour. And they were. The technician (?) did a GREAT job and was very pleasant and professional. I would recommend these folks to anyone. Props to New England Drain Service.
"

"Our water heater pilot went out the day after Thanksgiving. We managed to get it back on, but it kept going back off. On a holiday weekend, very few companies even returned the call by Monday. But Dan Sweet called back promptly. Although he was available to come out on Saturday, we were able to get the pilot back on ourselves to get us through til Monday morning.
On Monday morning (today) Dan came out first thing. He discovered that our gas-fired tank water heater, which was near the end of its life, was vented in a substandard and unsafe way, and that a valve associated with the pilot lighting system was malfunctioning so that relighting the pilot was a dangerous act.
By chance, we had been considering a new high-efficiency boiler with integrated water heater, to be done in the spring. We already had a quote from another firm to do this job and were leaning toward going with that company in the spring. After the water heater mishap, we asked Larry Sweet to give us a proposal to do the same kind of integrated high-efficiency boiler and hot water system, and they are very competitive. Turns out they've installed hundreds of boilers locally in the past several years, including at our church, at the local farm, and throughout our neighborhood. So that we don't have to rush into a boiler replacement in wintertime, and given the unsafe state of our old water heater, Sweet offered to lend us (at no cost) an electric water heater they had on hand, installing it the same day (and removing our dangerous old water heater) so that we wouldn't have to go without hot water for even one day. They made it clear that we are under no obligation to have them install a new system, even though we are using their spare electric water heater for what could be a few months.
Larry and Dan Sweet really went way over and above to help us today. No company could be expected to do what they did for us, and we are very grateful. They are very personable, expert at what they do, take pride in high quality work, and they engender a high level of trust. Not to mention they are a family-run local business that has been serving our area for 70 years. They truly represent a different kind of company. This is the kind of company that once you find, you don't let go.
"

"It went great. We were very pleased with the service and attention to detail. Colin, Dominic, and their work crew are very personable and knowledgeable to work with. They were able to install the new Bosch Greenstar 100 Wall Mounted Natural Gas Boiler and Superstor SSU-45 40 gallon stainless steel indirect water heater without any major problems. And remove our 40 year old beast of a boiler. They came back about 2 weeks later because the new expansion tank was a dud, but replaced that for no charge as it's part of the service agreement. They were very prompt with any questions via email/text. And provided all their paperwork in a timely fashion. We liked them so much we had them fix some other plumbing concerns in our house. We recommend them to anyone looking for general plumbing or a new boiler installation."

"We live on a long driveway shared by four houses. Our individual sewer pipes converge together and ultimately connect to town sewer. The driveway is long enough to warrant four manholes. We smelled a strong odor of sewage and noticed fluid bubbling around one of the manhole covers. Clear Water/DF Clark was highly recommended to me by a friend who is a civil engineer specializing in wastewater treatment. They responded within a few hours to take care of the problem. The workers showed my husband the problem in the manhole and explained what had happened (in language he could understand). Following this, Clear Water and my civil engineer friend consulted with each other and recommended that we have a diagnostic procedure where they snake a camera through the entire line (s) to be sure there were no other problems in the system.
From the receptionist who answered the phone to the men who performed the work as well as the president (David Clark), we found the company to be efficient, courteous, sympathetic, professional and very responsive. Upon my request, the president of the company wrote up a page long detailed description of the work done and the findings. Since we all split the cost, I wanted my neighbors to get the information accurately. I really appreciated the extra effort it took to write this up for us.
We were charged exactly what was quoted.
I'm not entirely clear about what differentiates Clear Water Industries from DF Clark - they appear to be divisions of the same company.
I would use this company again and recommend them in a heartbeat.
"
