We recently purchased a 2nd home on Lake James with an exterior that is 100% cedar.  The exterior was in serious need of cleaning and re-staining.  It had not been maintained; and, had a significant amount of mold staining and several areas of the trim had the original finish peeling off.

We contracted with Mike and Crystal to prep and re-stain the exterior of our home.  Throughout the process, Mike demonstrated thoroughness, competency and responsibility.  Mike and Crystal took personal responsibility to ensure they delivered a quality product.  Mike kept his commitments and did not compromise his work product even when faced with the stripping process taking more time than he expected.  He completed the project per the schedule he committed.

Mike demonstrated a high attention to detail in the finishing process and ensured the project was completed to my satisfaction.  The home looks beautiful...we could not be happier.

I solicited bids from several paint contractors and evaluated several before selecting Mike.  His pricing was very competitive versus several other contractors; but, I never observed where Mike cut corners.

I would definitely recommend MIke's Painting and will plan to use Mike again when we have painting needs.

"While there were no issues regarding the price or punctuality at first my concern and low scores are reflecting the warranty follow ups. The first problem occurred regarding the gates not closing properly due to settling and adjustments. After I gave a low scores due to no call back Mark Campbell contacted me after several calls and fixed the problem. Then I deleted the negative score. This August I noted that some fanciest started to lean, worrying me that the whole fence might tip over. After s several messages and calls, I did speak with Mark who promised to take a look and asked me to send him a picture. I did this on Sept 4! To this day, Oct 2, I did not have a call back from him ( after 5 calls and messages) or came out to at least look at the problem. To say that I am VERY disappointed is an understatement! In addition, their phone number 919-787-1880 has been disconnected!"

"Junior and his team are simply SPECTACULAR. They are professional, honest, prompt, and thorough, and whether you need interior painting, exterior painting, drywall repair, or staining, the quality of their work is far superior to the competition. Junior is a perfectionist who takes great pride in his work, and his work is flawless. He takes the time to do things right. If you have an older house like ours with cracks and sags in the ceilings and walls, he will leave it looking brand new without a single imperfection and with an absolutely smooth surface of paint. He takes extra special care to ensure that there is never a drop of paint where it should not be, and even if the job has required extensive sanding when he is finished your house will be cleaner than when he started. Junior costs more than the competition, but he is well worth it. We learned this the hard way. We initially went with a cheaper painting company (which, by the way, was highly rated). Boy, was this a BIG MISTAKE! The painters did such a poor job mudding our ceilings that they looked as full of imperfections as before; the paint had that horrible popcorn effect; they got paint all over our stained oak interior trim, and they left the interior of the house coated in a layer of dust from paint and plaster. I would like to add to what I said there by describing the quality of his work on a recent job that involved renovating our oak staircase. The sanding involved the use of both a small electrical sander and hand sanding to ensure that every area of the steps – the tread, riser, newel post, inner and outer string, balusters, and fascia – was completely and evenly sanded. He repaired damage to the wood in various areas of the steps making them look new. We decided to have the treads stained red mahogany and the strings, risers, fascia, and balusters painted black. As usual, Junior used extreme care, including taping all areas that needed to be protected when painting the railing and risers so that the newly stained treads did not get paint on them. The combined effect of the staining and painting was spectacular. The stained treads look rich, even-colored, and like new. The oil-based black paint that was expertly applied to all of the other areas of the stairs highlights the beautiful wood grain. Junior did not leave a single paint drop anywhere, and the lines that divide, for example, the treads and risers, are razor sharp. In sum, if you have oak stairs (or any kind of stairs) that you value and want expertly and beautifully refinished, stained, and/or painted, Junior is your man. I would not trust my stairs to anyone else."

"I received an email that included a Angie's list coupon it was $1,499.00 for an Exterior House Painting package--Premium Paint included done by Churchill Painting and Renovations. I purchased the coupon on Mar 19, 2017. This coupon gave me 2,000 Square Feet of Exterior painting Prep and Minor repairs using Sherwin Williams Exterior SuperPaint. Included 2 coats, 1 color. This did not include Trim, gutters, fascia, boxing, windows, shutters, doors. If the exterior paint job was more than 2000 SQFT then each additional SQFT was $1.50/per SQFT more. The owner of Churchill Painting and Renovations, Cary, Came to my house on the 25th of March and we walked around talked about what they would do (i.e., pressure wash, fixing rotting wood (I had 4 areas of rotted wood that needed repaired), Prep and filling cracks and then painting 2 coats of Sherwin Williams Resilence paint doing two colors (trim and full exterior along with black paint on the front doors, railings and shutters. He provided me with an estimate of $2016.00 in addition to the coupon of $1499.00. For the painting process to get done we had to wait for weather to clear and in a week they came to the house and pressure washed the house. After the pressure wash was completed I noticed that you could actually see the masonary of the Hardy Plank showing through. That evening Cary called me to let me know that when they pressure washed the house it was apparent that the original paint job was never primed and that for the present paint job to be effective and last that the house would need two coats of primer. This added an additional 900.00 to the original contract. The cost of the Job now reached $4,415.00. I was not in a rush to get the house done and I let Cary know that if he had more pressing jobs he could get to them and get to me when they got a chance. So between weather and situations beyond anyone's control the prep work was done about 3 weeks later. Once the prep was done 3 days later the painting began and the job was complete in about 3 days. During the painting and prep further repair work was discovered which was repaired at a cost of $206.00. Leaving a grand total of the job being $4621.00. My Wife and I were extremely satisfied with the work. I gave a grade of C ( I wish there was a B- Grade) for the price because I believe the price was fair for the work performed and I am a cheapskate. I wish I just could have paid the original coupon price but I also wish I had a million dollars!!!!!!! So the price was definitely fair for the services provided. I gave a grade of B for the Quality only because when you look close at some of the trim work I noticed that there were slip ups and areas where siding paint ended up on the trim and other ways around. Also they were not the best at cleaning up chips and strips that were removed during the prep and paint portions of the job. Otherwise, it was a great JOB. My wife and I love the way it looks and was really impressed with the punctuality, professionalism and Responsiveness of the employees of Churchill Painting and Renovations.
