"We just had Scarpone and Sons replace our roof in the middle of winter!! They chose the perfect day to rip off the existing roof and replace it in a little over a day. Lucky for us it stopped snowing just long enough for them to do what they do. They were efficient, fast, and did an excellent job. The roof no longer leaks and we are so happy! I highly recommend them to do YOUR roof. In fact we recommended them to a couple that were thinking of replacing their roof."

"Your Renovation is worth the wait!! My wife and I wanted to renovate our Ryan Homes builders grade bathroom so it was more than just a shower, soaking tub, and toilet. Tim had previously completed a kitchen renovation for my mother and father in law so we immediately knew we wanted him to work on our next project. Due to his high demand and COVID Tim was booking out for months, but we found if you want quality work and attention to detail you have to have a little patience. Once the work began Tim and his team were meticulous about the work area, putting up multiple layers of plastic to contain the dust and debris and then ensuring everything was vacuumed and wiped down at the end of the day. Communication was very open with him and he would discuss the day prior what his team would be working on, this included what time they would be onsite and what they may need for us to have prepared (material and color choices, etc.). Their typical day started at 8am and they worked consistently throughout the day, not ending until everything they had anticipated completing was done. This may mean 5:30pm or 7pm ensuring they stayed on the timeline they provided us, he was even opened to working on random Saturdays (within our schedule of course) to ensure there were no delays to our overall schedule. Every other day or so my wife and I would have a question about material finishing color selection etc. Tim would always listen and discuss collaboratively with us, without making us feel like we had no clue what we were talking about. Warping up the work Tim has always picked up the phone to answer any questions or address any concerns with vendors. The best example our vanity was ordered on Wayfair and came in damaged. Even after the job was done Tim came back to change out the door. It wasn't a huge job by any means but he wanted to make sure that it was done perfect. The amount of passion Tim has for his work is unmatched by any other contractor. Every inch of our renovation alludes a perfection that you will not find anywhere else and we look forward to using him and his team for future projects."

"As we expected DALLEN completed the work we needed done to our gutters and fascia in a timely efficient manner, and for a reasonable price. I never hesitate to contact Martin when we need something replaced or repaired on the outside of our home. This was not a big job but an important one and we were happy to be able to count on them once again."

"Wow! Roofers were here at 7 AM and left at 7 PM. New roof done and they cleaned every square inch of driveway, yard and porch. Two gentlemen from the Honduras and one from Mexico. They were the sweetest, most polite and hardworking guys. My roof looks great. Allstate will be installing new gutters in a couple weeks. Highly recommended for price and workmanship. Me and my husband are very happy!"

"Phase 1 was performed in May and was the work was satisfactory; I paid for it upon completion. Phase 2 was a disaster. The shed roof and repairs were supposed to be done once a roofing contractor put a new roof on my house. That contractor even supplied shingles for the shed. I attempted to contact Vincent three different times at the end of July to begin phase 2 - twice by text and the third time I left a message on his cell phone - and received no response. It's like he dropped off the face of the earth. By the time I decided to move on it was the end of August and I am now scrambling to find someone else. Vincent left me high and dry and I can not recommend him."

"I respected and trusted (past tense) and considered Ed a friend as we went to high school together and I sent him well over a $100,000 in jobs as I would refer House Crafters often on social media. Years ago his team with Sean Collins did an excellent job on my roof, and an expensive addition on a friend's home which I referred. Whenever someone would ask about roofs of additions I would mention House Crafters. In 2021 I had messaged Ed asking if he had any masons that do chimney work. He told me yes and he would send a guy out. The mason (Shannon) told me he would do everything on a written quote that I received from another mason, remove my front tree for a $100 more, and the work would be warrantied by House Crafters. I said deal. There were some bees going in near the roofline and chimney and I asked him if he wanted me to call an exterminator before he started the job so he wouldn't get stung. He said no worries he had cans of wasp spray in his truck and would come by the next evening and spray. He kept postponing. I ended up getting bees in my home waiting on him which ended up costing me more. While waiting on him to start the job I painted my fireplace brick white and it turned out beautiful. I knew he had some health problems so I contacted Ed to see if Shannon was ok. Ed responded with a very unprofessional response that he thinks he was having a boil removed from his ***. I was genuinely concerned about him so thought his response was in distaste. Regardless Shannon months later finally showed up to do the job. When he seemed like he was finishing up I asked if he was returning the next day to complete the job. He said he was done. I told him he didn't mortar the joints or seal the chimney and the brickwork he did do was a mess. He said that there were more bricks that needed to be replaced than he had initially thought (his job to know) and Mark the owner wanted him to charge me more but that he quoted me a price and wasn't going to charge me more. He told me it would be $300 to $500 more to complete the job. I said if you aren't doing what you originally agreed to you are charging me more. After getting paid he said he didn't think I appreciated what he was doing and walked off. Never completing the work. I asked a friend that does roofing if he was in the area with his ladder if he could get on my roof and take some pictures. He did and sure enough the crack in the crown was still there. Shannon never repoured the crown, didn't mortar the joints, or seal the brick. And the work he did do was so sloppy it looked like a 3 year old did it. As a result of it not properly being fixed moisture was continuing to seep in the brick ruining the paint on the fireplace brick and causing toxic black mold to grow inside the fireplace. I contacted Ed about my concerns with pictures and all he was concerned about was seeing a written estimate. I sent him the original that Shannon agreed to do everything on it and remove the tree as well. I told him I wanted someone trustworthy and capable to complete the job or my money back so I could put it towards having the work done properly. Ed did not respond. I told Ed he could call me to discuss and no call. I called the office and was told by the secretary that Ed said it was between me and Shannon then he cowardly unfriended and blocked me on social media. Shannon was sent to my house by Ed, he showed up in a House Crafters truck, and I was told the work would be warrantied by House Crafters. It's sad after sending someone over a $100,000 in work for an addition, kitchen remodel, and a porch enclosure that I was completely disregarded. The last job that was done for a friend the work was also a disgrace. The porch steps looked like a kindergarten child half hazzardly put together a jigsaw puzzle. Not cool at all. So very disappointed. I have Shannon recorded on my Ring Doorbell being paid and saying he was going to do everything on the previous quote. Really sad I will have to take legal action to get the work completed properly or my money back."

FAQs for garage building service projects in East Amherst, NY

A well‑constructed, properly permitted detached garage adds between $12,000 and $36,000 to a home’s resale value. Buyers appreciate the secure parking, extra storage, and flexible workspace, so appraisers often bump the property’s value accordingly. The exact return depends on the garage’s size, finishes, and how well it matches the main house, but most homeowners see a strong ROI when the build meets local codes and passes inspection.

Yes—once it meets local building codes and you secure the proper permits, a detached garage can be converted into living space. Finishing the interior, adding climate control, and ensuring safe egress effectively increase your usable square footage, though it may not always count toward the official listing. Skipping permits can trigger fines and even force you to undo the work, so always clear plans with your city first.

Most homeowners policies cover a detached garage under the “other structures” provision, but coverage limits vary. Review your declarations page and ask your agent how much protection you have for separate structures. If the limit is lower than the garage’s replacement cost, you can raise it for a modest premium. Confirming the details now prevents headaches if you ever need to file a claim.
