"Matt Gove and his professional carpentry and painting team who worked to repair, protect and paint the exterior of our home this summer were excellent! I highly recommend Gove Restoration! They worked long days with great attention to detail and the communication was very good when unexpected areas of concern were discovered. Matt provided thoughtful, cost effective/restorative solutions that addressed issues and many times worked with our existing materials. His advice came from a place of, “What would I do if this were my house?” which we very much appreciated. We look forward to working with Matt and his team on some interior projects next!"

"Old full upstairs bathroom, leaky shower which seeped down to the first floor. BnB gave a free detailed written estimate, worked with me on ways to lower cost to my budget. Full service contractor, work crew very polite, BnB owner was very patient and understanding on last minute changes and requests. Have payment options available. Hiring them again to remodel my sunroof in the fall. Highly recommend this contactor."

"Class General Contracting has done roofing and construction work on our over 100 year old house, and each time their price has been fair and the quality and service have been excellent. Recently we thought we saw a shingle missing from the roof and called them. They returned our call immediately and came over. We really felt foolish when it turned out to be a shadow, but Brian said no charge. Brian honors his warranties and his word."

"As someone who's previously worked on several renovations with contractors, I can't say enough good things about Fine Home Contracting. I was on a time crunch and had a list of miscellaneous things that I needed done in order to turn-over the property quickly. This included everything from new backsplash, removing old countertops, installing vanities & toilets, installing interior and exterior doors, plumbing, etc. What really blew me away with this company were three main things. 1) Communication: Not once did I have an issue talking to Dave or his team. I’ve dealt with contractors in the past who go silent for days at a time and are hard to reach. The FHC team and I sent messages back and forth using the CoConstruct portal which made it really easy to track the progress of the job. They would add in notes and pictures as things were finished. They quickly answered every question I had along the way and were really flexible with product/material options and adjusting the scope of work along the way. 2) Timeline and price: I received four quotes from contractors, FHC was right in the middle, not the cheapest but also not the most expensive. They were up-front with their timeline during our first conversation. Not only did they come in under the initial proposed budget as the scope of work changed, they also finished ahead of schedule. Ahead of time and under budget is a first for me when it comes to contractors. 3) Professionalism: The owner Dave was always really easy to worth with right from the jump. It was obvious from the beginning that he knew what he was doing and ran a professional company. The team that physically showed-up on site to do the work was top notch. These guys were at the house on time when they said they would be, they worked hard and often times were there late (I was frequently there doing other work while they were there, and saw first-hand how they worked). The quality of work was great. They didn’t cut corners or try and rush to get the job done. If something in the scope of work needed adjusting or they discovered something along the way that needed to be fixed, they reached out to me quickly with several alternative options and made me feel like I was part of the project. I don’t have a single bad thing to say about this company. I’ve never worked with contractors that made me feel 100% comfortable during the entire project. I didn’t wonder if they’d finish the job on time, or if surprise charges would show-up on the final invoice. Great communication. Great quality of work. Hard workers. Fair prices. Fine Home Contracting is a company I trust and highly recommend."

"Gerry and his team, Warren and Jim, were a pleasure to work with. Their level of detail, attention to quality and pre-planning got our kitchen renovation done on schedule. They were very helpful with the layout design and brought good ideas to our attention. As a general contractor Gerry had the balls rolling in a timely fashion. Ideal suggested specific suppliers and subcontractors that were all very helpful and attentive. "I have worked with Mike Barry at High Street Designs on two projects. The first was a smaller, one room renovation, and the second was a larger renovation involving a kitchen, dining room, and bathroom. For both projects, I couldn’t be happier with the results and working with Mike. From the initial estimate and until the final walkthrough, Mike is on-time, transparent, communicative, and consultative. His entire team are professionals, which makes the process less stressful. If surprises come up during the renovation, Mike clearly outlines the options and pros/cons of each. This made me feel very much in control of the project. A few weeks after the completion of the second renovation, we had a minor issue that needed to be fixed. Mike’s subcontractor came out the very next day to fix it. This is a testament to the quality of Mike and his team on ensuring the job is complete. I would highly recommend Mike and High Street Designs for any renovation that you are looking to do."

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in East Hartland, CT

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
