"Carpentry Plus Building came to our rescue to build a deck for my mom after a disastrous experience with a different contractor that we ended up firing. They picked up where the other contractor left off (something others were not willing to do). I originally contacted them on a Friday at 4:30 pm. To my surprise, they got back with me within an hour and continued to engage for several hours after that, ultimately providing a very reasonable quote for an unusual deck installation. Every single step of the way, Brad and Lauri were professional, courteous, honest, and trustworthy. They did exactly what they said they would do and either showed up on time, or early. The entire job was completed in less than two weeks from the day I contacted them, and three weeks sooner than they estimated. The workmanship and craftsmanship was exceptional with an unparalleled attention to detail. They even cleaned my mom's windows when they were done! While we did interview another vendor, we were impressed with Andy's overall knowledge of granite fabrication and installation. "We have a very unusal fit counter top for our kitchens.  Have not had one put in that was good at all.  The design makes it difficult to work with, but they called me back right away when I asked for a bid, I was able to send them a drawing of the counter we have, had a quote back within 12 hours.  When we accepted the bid they came right out, measured everything up, picked out our match color.  They had the counter top made and installed with in 5 days.  They did a fantastic job, the counter top is better then I could have ever asked for.  I will use them in the future!"

"Quality of product installed and workmanship I am pleased with. However, post install is why I have deemed necessary to leave this review. The crew left food waste in our yard and gutters. Lawn was not adequately swept for nails and staples. Upon reinstalling my TV antenna, observed pieces of shingle, siding, aluminum flashing, nails and staples in one gutter. This prompted me to inspect all gutters, where I found more of the same. Had two exhaust vents installed for bathroom fans. The crew did not leave necessary couplers to connect provided duct to vents in attic. The project manager provided necessary couplings by personally delivering to my house which I am appreciative of. Discovered packaging material from shingles, along with shingle remnants in my attic. The sales presentation and documentation was why I chose Palmer Construction over lowest bidder, about $5000. The owner and sales person have yet to reply to my emails and/or phone messages. The project manager is the only staff who contacted me and followed up. Not how I would run my business or manage my staff. They also jeopardized an opportunity to earn an additional project. I got a new roof which hopefully will last until I move and they got my money."

"We hired Miteff Plumbing in Lansing, MI again for our recent plumbing repairs. Jody, DJ, and Joe are a first class team. They called us with their arrival time and came with all the correct materials for a cluster of repairs. Shut off valves and other pipe fittings are hard for me with my arthritis. They accomplished work in cabinets and down below that are stubborn, tight spots. We had 4 new bathroom shut offs installed. A new laundry room sink and fawcet with new shut offs for the sink and wash machine. A new gauge was also installed for our well pressure tank in the basement. They did a professional job and were always on task until the finish. They are still our first call for our plumbing needs! Thanks, guys!"

"I need to stay on top of them because they also use sub contractors. It is the nature of subcontractors to do what they always do and it doesn't matter what the homeowner says. I had them do some rain gutter work, and they used a contractor that they said was the best in the area. It didn’t look that way to me. I had them come back, and I had him come back. I’m still not happy. The next time I’ll talk with Northern, I’ll say don’t use this guy and find somebody else. I talked to a guy there named Larry. I told him that I was looking for somebody that could be my outside go to person. I told him I have high standards and I expect response from them. We talked about that and I said that otherwise I would smear them everywhere online. We sort of worked out our relationship, and they are still my go to but I stay on top of them. They put in some windows on the second floor, and they did an extremely good job with that. I had rebuilt one of the rooms on the second floor and put in on my own trimming and all the internal and external framing. You couldn’t even tell all the windows have been touched. They didn’t mess up anything. They were very thorough. The same group of subcontractors came back to put a double entry door into the garage. Usually I hang around when the contractors are working. The guy asked me before they put the door in. I said that it’s not an inward opening door. They began to load all their stuff from their truck and packing it back up and put the frame in. They went back to their office. The office called and reordered. They eventually got it in. They did have a glitch in there. What I like about Larry, who’s my contact guy there, came out and said that they always have to order twice from suppliers. The first is to get it wrong and second is to get it right. It was my mistake because I did not specify the style of the door. It cost them more to come out twice but they did not change the estimate at all. If I go directly to a subcontractor, it’s going to be cheaper automatically because there’s no cut for the middleman. On the other hand, if I go to Northern and something screwed up much more likely they will have it corrected and take care of it than if I’m doing it with the subcontractors. It’s all worth a little bit of extra money because you have more fallback if something goes wrong and some things can always go wrong."
