"Horrible company to deal with. They came out to help to bring the elevator to the first floor. It was stuck due to a power outage on the block. They came out at 3pm Thursday and overcharged us overtime and travel time. As you can see from their publish hours 3 pm is within their working hours. They didn't tell us the overtime rate nor tell us that we would be charged over time. The service took under 45 minutes. Smartrise billed us for two hours at 454.00 an hour, total 908.00. When I spoke to Art at the company trying to discuss the proper amount for this service, he used profanity and name calling. Art hung up on me rather than communicate."

"Man was 5 minutes late. We had the baseboards on hand. No other material was needed. He finished the job in 50-55 minutes. Did a Excellent job. He could not give me cost of job at this time. We were billed $250.00. After a few calls to office they reduced the invoice to $200.00 for less than 1 hours work. We have used them over the years for our home in Lemon Grove ( shutters and carpets). Also at our home in La Mesa for complete window coverings. Will no longer use them or REFER THEM TO OUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS!"

Burris Plumbing Inc. was established in San Diego by Charles "Bud" Burris in 1973. Our company has been family owned and operated for almost 40 years and is now controlled by family partners Charles "Charlie" Burris Jr and Mark Burris. Our main goal has always been to continue on with Buds complete dedication to providing a quality of work far above normal expectations. We treat building million dollar custom homes with the same care and expertise as a simple home repair or drain cleaning. We are always up front with our prices and they are always reasonable and more than competitive. We currently have a staff dedicated to being on time and working efficiently, being clean and respectful, and most importantly, honest! Bud wouldn't have it any other way. Usually Charlie Jr. and Mark (owners) are actually doing the work, but if they are unable to be there, you will always meet or talk to them before a job begins just to ensure the plan and price are to your liking. Just ask around, our reputation speaks for itself. We never let our expertise go to waste by never selecting jobs only based on size. We are not limited to anything, but some of our areas of focus are custom homes and remodels, and smaller projects such as drain cleaning and unclogging, water heater repair and replacement, toilet repairs and replacements, kitchen faucet replacements, garbage disposal repair and replacements, bathroom faucet replacements, shower valve and fixture replacements, complete home re-pipes, and gas leak repairs.

FAQs for attic remodeling projects in El Cajon, CA

A loft conversion turns your unused attic or loft into a functional living space, like a bedroom or home office. Adding walls, ceilings, lighting, and even plumbing seamlessly integrates the new room with the rest of your home. It's a practical way to expand your living area and boost your property's value.

A loft is a finished and integrated living space created by converting an attic, while an attic is an isolated, unfinished area under the roof. The loft conversion process installs proper walls, ceilings, and utilities, transforming the space into a usable room that adds value to the home. In contrast, an attic remains largely unmodified and is typically reserved for storage.

Planning permission is required for a loft conversion because the project alters the structure and must meet strict building codes. A building permit, costing between $500 and $3,000, and mechanical permits, costing between $10 and $500 each, are mandatory. This regulatory process ensures safety, adherence to design standards, and the home's overall integrity during conversion.

A loft conversion takes several weeks because the project involves multiple phases, from design to finishing. The process requires careful planning, obtaining permits, executing structural changes, installing utilities, and completing final decorative work to ensure the converted area meets building codes and the homeowner’s requirements.

Choosing an alternative project instead of a loft conversion can be advantageous when a less complex project's return on investment is higher. Homeowners may opt for improvements like upgrading doors, windows, or adding a deck because these projects demand lower overall costs and fewer structural changes. Such alternatives can enhance home value and functionality with a more streamlined process.
