"Terrific. Communication was excellent. I was given dates and schedule updates so knew exactly when the builders were coming and what prep needed to happen before they got here. Pricing was clear and Jessica went through the different options to make sure I got what I needed/wanted. She was thorough and very responsive when I emailed questions. Work crew came on one of the worst weather days in November (stuck to scheduled date) and completed the 8X12 shed in three hours. Best way to describe the build was choreography! Team of three hustled, knowing exactly what needed to be done. I watched the build. They never stopped moving! Again, horrible weather (snow, rain and wind) and they got it done. My siding guys refused to work that day but not The Shed Shop. Quality construction. So glad I followed the advice of other customers on Angie's List and hired The Shed Shop. Have recommended them to friends and family."

"They came out promptly and replaced the sensors and adjusted the garage door. Everything works great. They did a wonderful job. Only thing somewhat strange that they do is that they require a credit card number before doing anything. Didn't really like that, but they are a reputable company and I didn't have too much of a worry about it."

"After the initial sticker shop of a dream garage I had to start making compromises. Batzel Builders was the only contractor that was responding in a reasonable time. Then when I was ready to start I learned that I had to apply for a variance that took 2 months and we missed a start time until spring, but even got delayed.  All the delay was due to me and not the contractor.  While I waited out winter the contractor called periodically just to stay in touch and helped fine-tune the details of some of the work.  I changed my mind countless times but the contractor stayed the course and even made suggestions for many of the ideas I had.  He was great to work with. <br /> Most contractors want to know all the details when bidding and insist on sticking to it. I had one contractor drop off because he didn't like all the changing. <br /> If you want near perfection, the ability to make changes, responsible work and a fun person to work with you can't go wrong with Dustin Batzel of Batzel Builders. <br /> Yes, I may have put this garage over budget but I also have closest thing to my original dream garage. "They are coming this summer to blacktop my driveway. They do a good job and make sure that everything is up to code. The owner is a perfectionist so he makes sure the customers are happy and that the work is done properly. I talked to the owner about their need to communicate better as far as giving me time frames and such. They do a good job; it is just that they did not come out when they said they were going to all the time. I think, basically, it was because they were overloaded with work."

"I had put off finishing the basement for several years, mainly due to the inability to get a good design that would work and provide good size rooms and good placement of the hallway. The key inhibitor was that with the initial build of the home, the bathroom plumbing was in a bad location. Dave Derby was able to quickly work up a design that moved the bathroom, and provided options for the layout of the entire basement. Dave initially provided a more high end design with a higher price than I wanted. But, by working with Dave, I was able to make some tradeoffs, achieve the basement I wanted that fit with the rest of my home and at a reasonable price. <br /> Overall, the project took about 7 weeks to complete, about 2 weeks longer than the initial estimate. However, some of the time was waiting for the next subcontractor to be available, and also due to the extreme cold and waiting for a good day to dig the window well for the egress window. <br /> I am very happy with the results. We have a large, finished basement that now provides a nice place to relax and to spend time together as a family. The quality of the workmanship was excellent. Dave has some very talented people who work for him as well as having very good working relationships with the subcontractors he uses. This results in a cohesive team working together to get the project done in a professional manner. <br /> Derby Construction strengths: project design, ability to scale up or down to fit your needs, quality of work, quality of employees and subcontractors. <br /> The only suggestions I would make are to get a list at the beginning of the project for the decisions you need to make (fixtures, cabinets, paint, carpet, etc) and when they are needed, and to have a pre-defined payment schedule. This will provide you and the contractor a pre-defined schedule that both of you can work to. <br />"

"It went ok however he subcontracted the work out. There no supervisor on site. He just came in am and pm. The new dryer vents had screens which didn’t allow the lint to escape. Also one unit the dryer vent was forgotten. I noticed it and contacted Gentry. He promptly came to fix the problem."
