"Daniels and Daniels painted my whole house and pressured washed the outside, as well as installed 3 replacement windows. The work is phenomenal and they were so nice and professional. "We chose 5 roofing contractors from Angie's List. When they came to give us an estimate we told them that price was not our only criteria, we wanted a quality job. Honestly they all seemed fine except for one thing or another. For example , in 1 estimate the gutter had a grater type screen, I didn't like it. Another estimate the contractor did his math wrong and his estimate was half of everyone else. I think they would have been fine but.... In the end we chose Beams because of Brad Rigney. He came and gave an estimate and nailed down a shingle on the house next door for us, the estimate was competitive with the others and frankly Brad impressed us both. When the work crew showed up Brad was there to introduce us to the work foreman Ceasar and showed him specifics like the trim we needed replaced and that we were keeping our down spouts. Then the crew went to work and removed our old roof and laid down some sort of under roof that was waterproof and insulated. (I worried about rain noise. If you've ever been in a barn during a rain storm you know the noise can be deafening.) anyway, the next day they put the roof on and that evening we had a rain storm, no noise, not a whisper. So they came ,they roofed, they cleaned up and a few days later(weather delay) the gutter sub-contractors came and within 2-3 hours had the new gutters on. Thru it all Brad kept in touch and on top of everything. One small snafu, the preliminary contract called for 5" white gutters, however by the final contract I wanted 6" green gutters to match our new metal roof. When the gutter contractors came , they had run out 25' of 5" white gutters. When we told them it wasn't correct they called Brad he talked to them and they said they would be back tomorrow with the right product. And they were, no fuss no muss no anger just kinda oops our bad. I have hated dealing with contractors in the past. ( we've all been through it ) With Brad as Beams representative we were in excellent hands. I only gave Beams a B on price because it wasn't the cheapest estimate, but I do believe it was the best and I would recommend them to anyone. the whole experience was hassle free and how many times can you say that about a contractor that has worked on your home."

"To start out, I should point out that I have built a number of decks in my life; and have lived in California, Colorado, Florida, and here in Kentucky. I currently work in commercial construction, but know both residential and commercial building codes. I typically do all the work around my house; everything from fixing plumbing issues to rewiring electrical, and everything in between. I don’t like to hire contractors because they don’t call you back, disappear after payment, and generally don’t do the work to my standards. I will not, however, get up on the backside of our deck and move 6x6x20 beams to support a roof 35' in the air. So I went through the process of hiring someone I felt was qualified. Since I have the experience, I know how much a project of this magnitude should cost, and how long it should take. I called about 20 contractors around Louisville to get quotes for the work, and besides not getting calls back from a lot of contractors, or bids obviously too low or way too high, I lucked out and got a referral to K&L Home Improvement to build the deck. I found pictures of their work on Facebook, and looked at their current and previous projects to see what they can do, and the quality of their finished product. I then called Keevin Thomas, and had him come to the house and explained what I wanted him to do. I should point out I didn’t tell him my background, and didn’t tell him how to do the job. I only told him what I wanted it to look like. The same thing I told 20 other estimators/contractors before him. He definitely knew all the code requirements, and pointed out code compliance issues he would correct when he rebuilt the existing deck (my deck lacked joist hangers, stringers were undersized in one area) and issues he would solve when expanding the roof. He also came back for a second visit with his roofer/framer because he wanted to make sure he captured everything in his estimate before giving me a final quote. Trust me, this is a BIG plus, because I don’t want to find out half way through the work that you forgot to include gutters, or vinyl siding, or didn’t realize the roof trusses would have to be replaced and now my cost is going up to cover your mistake. He knew exactly what had to be done, and exactly how to do it. I received his quote, and while it wasn’t the cheapest, it was one of the more comprehensive and detailed estimates, explaining exactly what they would do, and how it would be accomplished. I accepted his quote, and he was able to get his guys to my house the following week to start the work, well exceeding my expectations in a busy construction market. What can I say about the workers; it’s COLD outside, but they still pulled off the existing deck and roof, efficiently built the new structure, sealed it up, and completed the work in about two weeks, just like I expected. The other thing I expected, and got, was a call or visit from Keevin each day to make sure everything was proceeding as expected. He walked me through the process of what his guys were going to be focusing on that day, asked if there was anything I needed/if I had any concerns, and brought any issues to my attention (like the shingles were a difficult match because of previous work on the roof in that area) I expect a good contractor to talk to and explain his plan before proceeding, even though they are the experts. At one point, we were having the roof torn off to replace, and I saw there was a major storm coming in a few days on the news. He had a plan in place to cover the house with a tarp days before, just in case, and promised the work would be completed before the rainstorm. He did, in fact, meet every promise he made on the project, including this one, and the roof was ready for a heavy downpour. The work went off without a hitch, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. I’m glad I met Keevin, and would call him again if we needed more work done on the house now or in the future. It’s nice to know there is a reputable, honorable contractor doing work in Louisville. I can’t say enough good things about the overall experience and the results. If you’ve hired contractors before, you know the stress involved with having someone tear up part of your existing home. Everything is finished and exceeds even MY expectations."

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Fairdale, KY

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
