"The repair was more involved than originally thought. Steve made the initial repair but discovered that the rail for the door was improperly installed and that the repair he made would not last so he removed rail and re-installed in the correct position and now the door works as well as ever if not better. I would certainly use Fast Fix again and would highly recommend them to others."

"I was having a lot of problems with my garage door. The garage door opener was laboring to lift the door and the door would bind and stop sometimes when the door was lifted so I contacted Plano Overhead Door. Paul Reyna was sent to see what the problem was. He studied the situation and identified that there were several installation issues that weren’t permitting the door to lift easily. He came up with a plan to make several adjustments to fix the issues. He worked quickly and made the necessary adjustments. The result is that the door glides more easily taking pressure off of the opener. I’m very happy with the professionalism that Paul displayed. He did a great job!"

"Our old garage door was getting stuck halfway, and it was frustrating. Alamo Garage Doors fixed it quickly by adjusting the track and tightening loose bolts. The door now opens smoothly and quietly. I really liked how respectful and knowledgeable the technician was."

"They did the job well but I'm not sure I got the best price.  I recently purchased a home.  The garage door was old and the opener not functional.  I contacted Action for service.  They sent a technician the same day.  He looked at the garage door and said it would be cheaper to replace than repair.  I agreed and he quoted me a price for replacement of the 18x7 ft
door.  We discussed a few options and I elected for no windows and insulation.  I was not ready to commit to the order that evening.  The next morning I received a call about the estimate, I told them I was not ready to commit to the purchase since I hadn't gotten any other quotes.  The gentleman offered to lower the price and said he could perform the install on Saturday (2 days later).  I agreed (in hind sight I should have got other estimates, although my realtor had recommended them).  The reduced price included an adder for lifetime warranty on the parts which probably isn't necessary based on past experience.  The installer showed up as scheduled and did a nice job leveling the door, when he completed the door was closed and I could see a halo of daylight surrounding the entire door.  I told the installer that I was expecting weather stripping that would seal the door.  At my old house we had insulated doors installed and this was standard.  He told me they did not send any weather stripping with him but to call the office on Monday.  When I called the office they told me that weather stripping was not included from any garage door companies (something I can't confirm because I was too stupid and did not get multiple quotes).  They did offer to help me with the cost and provide and install for $120.  I reluctantly agreed.  They came as promised to the install the day they said.  The same technician that gave me the estimate was the one that did the installation.  I told him the installer said the extra molding around the door should be removed since it is 1.5" wide and the weather-strip molding is 2".  I mentioned that to the technician and he said "I'm not removing it".  I was concerned that removing it may not go well and again agreed to let him proceed.  He also told me that he always forgets to quote the weather stripping.  Everything looks ok but the weather stripping hangs over the extra piece of molding about a half inch.  It isn't the way I would have installed it myself.  The cost with the lifetime parts and weather stripping was about $300 so I feel like I paid about $300 too much.  I hope to never need to use them again as the door seems to be good quality but if I do have an issue I am kind of stuck with the lifetime warranty since it is an Action lifetime warranty.  To be fair I am not dissatisfied with the installation, even the weather stripping overhang isn't really noticeable.  I am more dissatisfied that I had to pay another $120 for weatherstripping that should have been included in the original estimate."

"They responded to my request on Angi.com within minutes and gave me a time frame for the technician to arrive. The technician (Mike) arrived near the beginning of the window and gave me a quote. Once we settled on the work to be done, he completed the work within an hour at the agreed price with no hidden charges. If I ever have any future problems with my garage door, (hopefully no time soon) I would definitely hire them again."

"Clay was wonderful to work with. He was unable to make it the first day but kept in touch and rescheduled for the following day. He was able to take care of the problem with my garage door and was priced very reasonably. If I have another problem I will not hesitate to call him. I would definitely recommend BlackJax to anyone with a garage door problem."

FAQs for garage door opener repair or adjustment projects in Farmersville, TX

Garage door costs range somewhat broadly, depending on the type you choose. However, you’ll also need to factor in labor costs, which vary from state to state and between pros.

A chain driven operator costs between $150 - $250. For a belt driven operator it is usually $160 - $450. A screw-driven operator is between $250-$500.

To keep garage door opener repair costs down, you should check that the whole apparatus is working normally on a regular basis. This means making sure that the tracks of your door are greased and fully operational, and that the door itself is in good condition.

Installing a new garage door opener runs from $250 to $500 at least. If your repair costs are close in cost to that range or if your garage door is 10 to 15 years old, you should probably replace it instead of repair.

However, it’s a better idea to fix your garage door opener if it’s less than eight years old or if repair costs are less than replacing.

Garage door openers usually last between 10 and 15 years. However, several factors contribute to how long your garage door opener can last. If you schedule regular inspections and practice proper care, you can maximize your garage door opener’s lifespan, saving money in the long run. As a general rule, practice the same care for your garage door opener as you would the door itself.

These tell-tale signs indicate your garage door is going bad, including:

  • Not closing or opening at all

  • The door reversing when you try to open and/or close it

  • Inconsistent opening and closing; more noise than usual (grinding, scraping, or banging)

  • Sticking or stalling when you try to open or close it

If you experience one or more of these signs, it’s time to call a professional garage door repair service.
