"We had an unusual situation. House was built about 1974 with AC return installed in a concrete tunnel under the house. Eventually, the return tunnel started to have water leaks. We moved all AC & returns up to the attic. Couldn’t find a plumber who wanted to tackle the leaky return tunnel….. until Ed from Hoag Plumbing contacted me through Angi. Long story short, we now have a couple of sump pumps in the old return, old vents have been closed and we’re looking forward to life getting back to normal… Thanks to Ed Hoag! He now is my #1 Go To Plumber."

"Florida Leak Detectors’ Technician, Manny, actually arrived about an hour before the appointment time which was not a problem for me. I was glad that he was able to fit me into his schedule on such short notice. He thoroughly explained how he would pressurize each plumbing line during his testing process. After he performed those diagnostic pressure tests, he donned his scuba gear and inspected every inch of the surface of the pool and the spa as well as the underwater light. It turned out that we not only had more than one leak in the spa jet lines but there was also a leak in the spa drain. Manny did a great job of explaining how to monitor the pool to confirm that the leaking had been fixed. He gave me his card and assured me that if I was not satisfied, I could call him back. But he stated with professional confidence that he did not think that would be necessary. The price was reasonable for the detailed work he performed. I highly recommend Florida Leak Detectors."

"I've used their service three times. The service they provide can't be beat. The first time I used them was after hurricane Irma when my pump head (I think that's what it was called) stopped working and the house started to flood. The septic water was not being sucked out the septic tank into the drain field causing sewage/water to build up and back up into our house. They came out the same day and figured out the problem and since the part I needed would not be available until the next day (Saturday) they pumped out the the septic tank given us the ability to use our water without it flooding for the night since by pumping out the septic tank it would have more space available to store waste. The next day they came out and installed a new pump. Everything worked perfectly thereafter. The second time they came out was because our water was backing up again which was about a year later. We were concerned since we just had the pump fixed. They came out the same day to access the problem; come to find out the switch to the pump had been accidently knocked into the off possition - probably by the lawn guys we hired. So he flipped back the switch and it started pumping and everything was well. We did feel a little silly. But everytime they respond to our calls we learn something new about having a septic tank. (By the way we are first time home buyers.) The next time they came out we had another leak which we later found out had nothing to do with the septic tank and the plumber who came out quickly isolated the problem. This time it was due to a leak in our shower from someone who had recently remolded our bathroom. They didn't even charge us the third time because they never had to dig which was a relief! So this time we got insurance involved and got our bathroom repaired, we needed a new shower pan liner, and now we are hopefully done with leaks. Ooh the joys of buying a new/old house. I am very grateful for Rooter One they are the best!!! I will always hire them for my plumbing needs and septic pump out. Love Love ❤️ their team."

"He was on time, he took his time answering all my questions and explained the situation what led to the broken pipe. His pricing was extremely reasonable along with giving me a senior discount, he was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and I would definitely recommend him for any plumbing issues. Thank you Chris."

"The service provider was pleasant, professional and very responsive.  It's always a nightmare to experience a natural disaster but Drimax was sympathetic and managed to calm me down.  The response time was very good considering the fire took place 2 days before Christmas and he did get some crews out there on Christmas Eve.  They mainly put dehumidifiers the first two days (keep in mind it was Christmas Eve).  This didn't entirely make sense to me to have dehumidifiers running while the wet insulation was still there, but I have seen emergency restoration crews do this before so it must be protocal.  In short, I am grateful to the gentleman who gave up his Christmas Eve to help me out.  This is the best restoration crew I have used (sadly I have used 3 over the years).

"Elite tech arrived promptly, wore covers on shoes and took the time to answer all of my questions. Since he was paid hourly, his estimates were from a sheet of estimates instead of numbers from his head, or "deals" after a quick call from his manager. The tech was not able to find the leak and thus began selling us on replacing our 9 year old unit & air handler or spending thousands to replace parts we didn't know would be the cause of the leak to begin with. After about a week from him filling the AC with new coolant *$54 / lb  and $364 later, the A/C is now not functioning again. What he said was likely a slow leak ended up being much faster and we now have no choice but to install a new A/C or spend thousands to fix the current one which he said was outdated. Like all A/C repairmen he was pretty pushy with suggesting a new unit. On a plus note, he did schedule a follow up appointment to make sure that the coolant levels were still sufficient but I'm assuming this is another move at making a sales pitch.

Edit* - Due to the fact that I wrote this review and was quite frustrated after paying nearly $400 to find a leak that was deemed minimal and less than a week later we run out again, I think I may have been quick to anger with my review. All-in-all, I'd have to say the professionalism, courtesy and quality of Elite has far surpassed any of the 4+ other AC repair people we've had here in the past several years. I realize that every A/C company will try to upsell you, it's how they make money, and all of them do it. These guys were much more reasonable than the others."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Fellsmere, FL

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
