"Finally an honest Solar company!! I went through several companies trying to get quotes for one of my properties, either they were ridiculously expensive or they didn't return my calls. A friend of mine referred me to Mega Sun and I have to say I am very pleased. Within a couple days from the initial phone call I already had an estimate and once i decided to go with them the installation was completed in one week. Its been a little over a month since they completed the install and everything is working smoothly.

"Overall, it went pretty well, though there were some gotchas that future customers should be wary of. 1) At the time of the estimate, I specifically asked about whether a permit was needed and if so who was responsible for getting it. FiveStar indicated that a permit would be needed and getting it was their responsibility. However, they did not get it. A city inspector caught them doing unpermitted work on the final day of installation. He was kind enough to let them finish what they were doing with the instruction that they rectify the permit issue afterwards. FiveStar told me that they were trying to save me money by skipping the permit. At no time had I indicated that cutting legal corners to save money was an option. In fact, I would have thought that my questioning about the permit process would have conveyed my interest in doing things according to the city regulations. (I think they were actually saving themselves some expense and effort.) If the inspector had caught them at a different time in the process and been less accommodating and enforced a stop work order, I could have been left with gaping holes in my house for several days while the permit issue was resolved. Lesson learned: ensure that workers have the appropriate permit in hand when they show up for work. 2) I had expected that the house would be tidied up each day after work was completed. That was not the case. Drop cloths and debris cluttered various rooms. This was not a huge deal in my case, but it is something for future customers to clarify with the company. 3) The workers did some repair of cracks in the wall by a couple of the windows. It appears that the mud was flung somewhat sloppily. I found globs of it on adjoining walls and on nearby furniture. Fortunately, the furniture was already somewhat worn, so I could take this in stride. Lesson learned: if you have furniture or other items that you want to ensure are well protected, do it yourself, even though the contract says that they will cover furniture and use drop cloths. 4) Some of the screens did not fit properly, leaving gaps for insects to get into the house. It took two attempts to get the right-size screens. The first attempt failed because the replacement screens were not ordered at the right size, according to the manufacturer. I don't know why the original screens didn't fit properly. This was resolved with some patience (since the screens had to be made to order). Proper fit of the screens is something to watch out for."

He didn't communicate the days or times that he would come and do the work or finish work – clearly. I had to call to ask where he was and what time and/or day he would come. There were a couple of days in which he was late."

"On their first visit out they attempted to replace a part (no charge to me) to get the faucet to stop leaking but the faucet was was just too old and needed replacement.  They advised me on local places to go to find a replacement and I wound up getting a fantastic deal on a new faucet.  They installed it very quickly and threw in a soap dispenser for me.  I would definitely use these folks again."

"When my tenant of 10 years moved out I called Robert to paint the interior, remove, refinish and paint the non-asbestos accoustic ceiling and refnish all the wood cabinets and drawers in the house. He did an excellent job in a very timely manner. He also was able to find and repair a leak in the shower above the tub which a previous contractor failed to do. No only did he repair the leak, he did an excellent job replacing the tiles and re-grouting the area around the tub."

"My roof had been leaking & I knew I needed a new one as it was 24 yrs. old.  It's 2500 sq. feet.  They came & looked it over & said that I had dry rot & I picked out the roof (color) I wanted.  The guys that showed up to do the job were very professional & very courteous.  They removed the old roof & they cleaned up after they stopped work every day - the job took 5 days.  They found that approx. half the boards under the shingles had dry rot & they removed & replaced them.  They installed a ventilation system which should help prevent dry rot in the future.  They put on the new roof & it looks good from what I can see!  They were on time every day & worked hard.  My city's building inspector showed up twice to see if they were doing things up to code & they passed the inspections.  I'm very pleased & there's nothing bad I can say about them!
