"GREAT! Brock Mechanical's team was timely, professional and polite. They worked hard over three days and rerouted our pipes around a deck, pavers and roots of a large Weeping Cherry tree. I can't recommend them enough."

"Levell and Taylor (HD012174, 12/17/20) were prompt. efficient and courteous. As well as installing the generator, they also corrected an existing problem with the gas line. The electrical subcontractor (Bill, M&M Cable) was also top notch. We had been told a generator would not be available for several months, but Holland was able to get us one before Christmas. What a great present!"

"I hired Motown Fire to convert my wood burning fireplace to gas and install the burner and gas logs. I got bids from five different contractors to do the work. Motown’s was the second lowest. There was one contractor whose price was lower than Derek’s but I later discovered that contractor did not have a mechanical license. Most contractors wanted several hundred dollars more than Motown for the gas line work. One of the stores I went too wanted double what Motown charged me. Another thing I really liked about Motown was Derek’s honesty and willingness to install a gas log set I purchased on my own. I spent a lot of time researching gas logs sets. I quickly learned that, like most things these days, you can buy everything you need on Amazon. When Derek came out to give his estimate I mentioned that while didn’t mind paying a professional to install my gas logs, I wasn’t happy that most contractors seemed to be marking up “real fyre” gas logs and burners. Most of the other contractors I spoke with quoted me around $200 more for “real fyre” equipment than what identical models cost on Amazon. When I mentioned this to Derek, he said he understood and would be more than happy to install a log set and burner I bought myself. He even talked me about the proper size and models that would fit my fireplace knowing full well I’d be buying them online. He helped me save a lot of money this way. All the other contractors I got bids from tried to steer me away from buying equipment from anyone but them so they could make even more money. Derek was honest and straightforward. Installation went great. Dustin and Derek completed the work in just over an hour. They were polite, on time, took off their shoes, and cleaned up when they were done. They even installed a damper clamp for free. Derek showed me how to use everything before he left. We couldn’t be happier with how the gas fireplace looks. Motown was honest, professional, and very fair in their pricing. I would recommend them to all my friends and family. Between buying the equipment myself and the price Derek charged, I turned my wood burning fireplace into a beautiful and elegant gas one for just over $1,000. One store quoted me $2,000 for the exact same job."

"<p>On Wednesday, 08/01/2012, my wife and grandson give me a panicky message that we have no hot water!  I checked, found no hot water, even though power vent motor, on water heater, was busilly humming along.  Went to Angies list and looked up plumbers.  Mike Madden (Prime Plumbing) stood out with straight "A"s, and great reviews.  Placed phone call (which was promptly answered), told him problem.  Even though it was moderately late in the day, he was quite prepared to come out, diagnose problem, and, either fix it right then, or, if parts were needed that he didn't have available, he would be able to get them and be back first thing in the morning.  I told him it wasn't an emergency so coming out next day would be fine.  We set up appointment for noon the next day.  At 1045 AM, on Thursday, 08/02/2012, Mike called to apologise, his worker was running late, but would be here by 1230.  Sure enough, his man showed up, fixed what seemed to be the problem (bad relief valve), ran some tests and found that the valve was not the problem.  About this time, Mike Madden showed up, introduced himself, and got involved in the diagnosis.  It appeared that the igniter was malfunctioning (cycling on and off, so flame didn't stay lit), and, moneywise, it would make more sense to replace entire water heater unit than to fix the existing water heater unit ( 15 years old).  Mike started making phone calls, found a replacement water heater, gave me a price for the unit, including installation ($1400.00), sent other employee to pick it up, asked if I wanted them to install tonight, or would 9:00AM, on 3rd be acceptable?  I said Friday morning would be fine.  He did not require any "up front money", told me he would call in morning and left.8:14 Friday morning, Mike called, asked if he could come early.  Arrived at 8:28, went to work.  He had estimated 2 men, 2 hours, work took a little longer due to some unforeseen problems with our piping.  We use heat pumps for A/C that use well water to function, so turning water off, for any extended period, would cause some discomfort.  Mike waited till last possible moment to have me turn off water supply, so water was off less than an hour.    Unit was up and running before noon.  Mike did not charge any extra money for additional time spent on job, was extremely cordial and informative.  Both Mike, and his assistant were neat in appearance, dressed appropriately for the job at hand, and were extremely polite.  The utility room, where water heater is located, is neater and cleaner now, than when he arrived.  Mike did not charge any money for the time spent diagnosing problem, nor for the relief valve his man had replaced on Thursday.I have had many occasions, over the years, to interact with service providers, Mike Madden (PRIME PLUMBING), provided the best experience I have ever had!He is the man/company I am going to use, from now on, for any other plumbing work I need done.</p> Michael Gow, Faussett Rd, Howell, Michigan 48855!"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Fenton, MI

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
