"Donovan did an outstanding job diagnosing our over the range microwave. He tested every possible component and determined that the magnetron is faulty. Unfortunately, the cost of a replacement part versus replacing the unit was not favorable. He was very prompt and precise in his process and I have complete confidence in his expertise. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing any type of appliance service or repair. Thank you for coming out on this rainy day! Best of luck to you and your business!"

"I am a happy person.  I've finally found "My Plumber", and I have been searching for a while. Jim is a master plumber, with a wealth of experience, and an independent and it shows.  My first call was to have the cut off valves and faucets replaced; they were old and corroded; hard to turn off and on; and beginning to leak a little.  The estimate was reasonable, so I asked about a toilet that  wouldn't flush and refill properly.  When he gave me the options, which included a toilet rebuild, I was skeptical, but decided to have it done because the price was right (way, way better than some of his competitors) and he said that he has had great success with rebuilds.  I also wanted to keep my toilet because of the color. He and his helper arrived promptly, got to work and finished in a timely manner.  It is clear that he is a very knowledgeable person in his field, and he seems to keep his customer's needs in the forefront. I am very pleased with the work that was performed - and the toilet that has been giving us grief for years now works like a charm. Not only will I use him in the future, but I will pass his name along. <br />"

"The repairs went well and the people they sent were professional and stayed on the job until I was satisfied. Their limits do not cover the cost of major repairs but it is still cheaper than paying the total myself. They are prompt to respond that they are working on my work order. I live in a rural area and they have problems at times finding someone who will work with them in my area. The do offer to allow me to get the repairs done and they will reimburse. The one problem I had that made me unhappy was when my microwave broke they offered very little to replace it. AND, they would not replace it themselves nor do the installation as my contract stated they would."

FAQs for appliance (microwave oven) installation and replacement projects in Fenwick Island, DE

A pro can finish the job in one to three hours. Countertop models are the quickest, but built-in, drawer, and over-the-range units take longer because the installer may need to run a new outlet, modify cabinets, or add venting. Any add-ons can push the timeline closer to the three-hour mark. Hiring a licensed installer ensures the wiring is safe and the appliance operates at peak performance.

Because an over-the-range microwave doubles as a range hood, it needs proper venting. You can opt for a recirculating model that filters and recirculates air back into the kitchen, or a ducted unit that exhausts outdoors. Are you unsure which route suits your cooking style? Ask your installer for guidance before making a purchase.

Only microwaves labeled “over-the-range” have the built-in venting and lighting that’s necessary for safe, code-compliant use above a stove. Countertop models don’t have those safeguards. Before you swipe your card, have a licensed microwave installer confirm you’re choosing the right unit for the space and ensure compliance with local codes.

It’s best not to install a countertop microwave in your cabinets. Countertop models aren’t designed for use in an enclosed cabinet, and blocking those vents can trap moisture or even create a fire hazard. A built-in or drawer microwave is designed for tight spaces. Run your plans by an installer to make sure you’re buying the right style for the spot.

You don’t need an electrician if the outlet already meets the microwave’s power needs and sits in the right spot. In that case, you’re good to go ahead with the installation. If the outlet is undersized, outdated, or too far away, hire a licensed electrician to install a new one and ensure everything is code-compliant.

With routine care, most microwaves last between five and 10 years. To help them reach their maximum lifespan, wipe up spills immediately, wash the grease filter periodically, avoid using metal dishware, and close the door gently. Those simple habits reduce malfunctions and keep the appliance running smoothly for the long haul.
