"The project is about 50% complete at this time and we can’t say enough about our wonderful experience with Jackson Construction (Dorson Jackson). This is our first experience with new construction and/or remodeling. Dorson has guided us through planning our project to meet our “vision”. HIs vast knowledge and experience has been so valuable to us and we are so happy we chose him as our general contractor. I will review further upon completion of our project. So far we are quite pleased with Dorson, as well as all of the trade subcontractors he hired. I am excited to write a more thorough review soon. You can’t go wrong with Jackson Construction!"

"I was selling my house and called JC for some estimates. After listening to me, he recommended I sell the house without doing the repairs. He reasoned that in the current housing market, it would save time and money to NOT do the repairs. I'm so glad I listened to him! JC was EXACTLY RIGHT. He saved me a ton of money, time and headaches. What a professional! He took time and energy to give me great advice at no benefit to himself. That is a true class act. I can't imagine a more trustworthy, personable contractor."

"Wow. Great!. Ryan asked a lot of questions before he came out so that we both had clear expectations. He quoted me what the cost for each item was. He did a beautiful job of fixing a large chip in the door of the bookshelf and and replacing piece that had come off of the crown. You would never know either of these had been damaged. He also repaired loose boards on the drawer of the base and put in missing boards to stabilize the crown. In addition he worked with me to discuss options for refinishing the wood on 2 chairs before I have them reupholstered. He gave three several options and prices and recommended the least expensive, because it provided the best color match with out spending a huge amount of money. (He explained that mahogany shows different colors depending on the direction from which you look at it). What can I say except that I am not sure that he charges enough given the amount of time it took him and how painless it was for us to have him come and work at our house."

"Last fall I began getting bids for roof replacement and got 4 bids. S&K was not the lowest or the highest estimate, however they were definitely the most responsive contractor and the most professional all around. We had some specific details, particularly relating to plant protection and clean-up, that we wanted to include in the agreement. Courtney (project manager) was very accommodating about those inclusions. In April I asked S&K to have the work done during June. Courtney said that was possible. In mid-May he said the work would be scheduled for June 14th. The crew showed up at 7:30 am on the 14th and completed the job the next afternoon. Although we did lose a couple of small plants during the project, in general the crew protected the plantings. They also did a great job of clean-up. I was somewhat concerned that even though we had an estimate, there would be attempts to increase the total cost by trying to convince me that some additional unforeseen work needed to be done. However, the crew only replaced two sheets of plywood that were rotted and the cost of the job only increased by $110. I think that it would be a good idea for the homeowner to be present when the crew arrives to observe/advise the crew about how and where to access your site, as well as plant protection. Considering the size and complexity of our job, I think the work went well from beginning to end. Courtney was excellent to work with (patient and accommodating). One of the reasons that I selected S&K to do the work (even though the estimate was not lowest) was that the company had a good reputation and good references. I'm quite happy that I did select them."

"It went beautifully from start to finish. Excellent product choices, and quot;cut aboveand quot; decor recommendations and complete satisfaction with his work. We consider Rafael a craftsman, rather than a carpenter. People often slow their vehicles to take in the beauty of our and quot;magicand quot; cottage -style home. We often recommend him as a qualified, detail-oriented builder.. <br />"

"They did a really good job of collecting sub contractors who were top-of-the-line. They were very good about making sure that their sub contractors were responsive to us and did not strain us out. We had an unusual construction; it specializes in ICF or insulated concrete forms. They were very conscious about helping us build an energy efficient house; pulling out things, that we had selected, that maybe we would not have been happy with. This saved us some money in the long run. The prices seemed to be fair. We would recommend them."

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Florence, OR

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
