"<p>contacted them on Friday morning he was at my house at 1:00pm.  He diagnosed problem and gave me two options, 1 - replace faulty part with a brand new part, or 2 - repair the faulty part for $70 less.  I chose option 2 and my tv was working the next afternoon.  I  did pay $25 to have repair parts fedexed overnight.</p> <p>I will use OK Electronics again if and when the necessity arises.  I could not have asked for better service in any regard.</p> <br />"

"They are really good. If I need windows in the future, I would get a quote. I don't know whether I would use them or not, but I would get a quote. I went to them, they didn't go to me and I think they pride themselves on that. They don't go door-to-door. They rely on word of mouth which is good. They had a good product and the price was really good. The sales pitch would not go as long as what others did before. They worked with me to find ways to cut the costs as well. The fact that I ordered the exterior windows, it was easy. I did it in an hour and that saved me a couple hundred dollars. So that was good I think it was the price and the value that was really good."

"Our garage door failed after only 14 months...had to have emergency service on the weekend and spent $200 to have repaired. Called owner to ask for some consideration regarding this repair. He would not work with me on it. I was prepared to purchase an annual service agreement for the next twenty to twenty-five years (app $100 per year). But he would not work with me. That's probably $2000-2500 worth service fees, versus $200...not good business."

"I called Home Link based on AngiesList's grade & because they had good reviews. Most other contractors I called wanted to come right away or within a day or two.  Home Link works differently, there process is: <br /> 1. You call the office <br /> 2. They leave a message for a Project Manager <br /> 3. He will email or call you to set up the appointment (maybe a day or two later) <br /> The project manager came out and looked around and discussed the project with us.  He was punctual on that day and professional (why I ranked it high on these).  We told him we needed an estimate rather quickly and he said he would get one out to me the following week.  When I did not receive it, I sent an email to remind him and let him know that we HAD to make a decision by the next day or at latest, that Friday, and really needed the estimate please (I was not mean, just matter of fact).  I received NO Reply at all from him.  It is now a week later and we have made our decision, however, I feel we could have made the decision a week earlier had I known they had no intention of providing an estimate.  We waited, b/c Home Link said they would provide an estimate, but they did not.  It is a rather large project, so I am surprised that they did not bid on it. I was very disappointed in the outcome with Home Link and expected at least an email reply. This is why my rating is low. <br />"

"Everything went smoothly. Allen showed up on time for both the initial inspection and the actual work day. Everything was constructed well and according to plan. I'll use him next time I need a handyman. One note: he didn't provide a hard price proposal up front, rather he gave an estimate, and then informed me about the final price after the work was completed. The final price was marginally higher than the initial estimate, so there is some uncertainty about pricing but perhaps this could work in benefit of either party depending on whether the work goes smoothly or has complications. <br />"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Fort Lee, VA

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
