"This was our second job with Outdoor Xcapes. 1st one in 2011 with Bret as our Salesman. Went fairly smoother with only a few glitches. This job consisted of a seat wall with small patio, step pads and artificial turf with Steve as our Salesman. Steve was very nice and eager to please during the bidding process. Very responsive to phone calls during the job. However, as the job progressed It was apparent that while it was important to Steve that the job was done correctly there was no give or take on money. At a Home Show an Outdoor Xscapes representative (not Steve) told us that repeat customers would get a discount. Steve would not honor that discount until it was to his advantage. There was a hole in their work schedule and they needed a job to fill it. At that point a discount was offered. The tree we wanted was 20% off, Steve would not give or share the shavings. Didn’t seem like there was any interest in building any relationship for return business or referrals. Crew did a great job including clean-up. Jesse, the foreman, was pleasant to work with. However, he was the only one who spoke English and stayed on the job for only a short time. Any communication had to be done by phone to Steve who would contact Jesse. It was a little cumbersome to communicate. We are very happy with the concrete seat wall and step pads. There were a few hiccups during the process, nothing major. The turf was not acceptable. It had discoloration, lines about every 10” and two visible seams. Megan was our contact for warranty issues. She was very responsive and easy to work with. I had to work directly with the representative for the turf which was Synthetic Grass. It took six weeks but the grass was replaced and installed by Outdoor Xscapes at no cost to us. Adam was in charge of the installation and worked with us to make it right. In hind sight my husband and I were too complacent in going with the same landscaping company. We assumed they would treat us right because we were a return customer. Because of this we didn’t get any other bids and when it became obvious that there was no loyalty to a return customer felt it was too late in the process to start over. It was a mistake. Outdoor Xcapes as a whole, is a good company and gets the job done quickly. Be sure to negotiate payment terms and dollars up front."

"I requested duct cleaning on 7 homes. Found out this week that I was invoiced and paid for all, but they were not all performed. Disappointed. I recommend you use a service that confirms the work with a camera image of the duct"

"Finally, we bit the bullet and updated our bathrooms. Our old guest bathrooms had lower than normal cabinets, a cheap white countertop, a dated bathtub (with shower curtain (ewww)) , an eroding mirror and chrome and gold fixtures (yuck!). Our master bath had lower that normal cabinets, a cheap white countertop, and chrome and gold fixtures (again, yuck!). We visited Sunset Tile & Bath. Mark, assisted us in the showroom with many of the decisions that had to be made. The man is very knowledgeable about the products and options for our new bath. And a real saint for his patience with our indecision! We hammered out the demolition and start date. Time for the next step. Let's do it! Thank you Mark! It didn't take long before our bathrooms were gone. They did leave an old sink so that we had water until the new ones went in. After demolition and measurements, we waited for our countertops and glass. After receiving the cabinets and countertops, the craftsmen went at it. They removed a large Jacuzzi tub and replaced the chrome and gold faucet with brushed nickel. Then the cabinets went in and were nicely trimmed to perfection. Next the beautiful new countertops, sink and brushed nickel faucets. Last, brand new shiny mirrors rounded out the renovation. The tub in the guest bathroom was replaced with a custom shower. The water valve was placed to the side so that guests don't get blasted with cold water. They also installed a really convenient shelf. Let me say this. Most of my life I have done most of my own work. I understand the work that was being done. These guys are experts with masonry, installation of countertops, cabinets, and plumbing. All new shut off valves, everything was new and updated from the wall out. This is a crew of real professionals! I would without hesitation recommend sunset bath and tile to anyone considering renovations. I am only sorry that we waited so long to enjoy our new bathrooms."

"Pretty bad experience with this company. Employee recommended a trimmer person named Eddie that he said they use for trimming, to trim my hedge. I gave him arborists instructions on how to trim and to not use a mechanical trimmer. He then proceeded to ignore the instructions and used a mechanical gas powered trimmer and ruined my hedge. The companys owner refused to call back. I would not recommend. Pretty bad to treat customers that way."

"It went very well. Triple J worked on our large property over two Saturdays in March. The property was overgrown with weeds as much as three feet high and close to 30 trees and large bushes. Triple J hauled off all of the cut grass and trees/bushes to a local disposal site, about a dozen large truckloads of material. Jaime, Jose, and their crew showed up right on time each day, attended pre-work safety meetings and worked diligently all day. The property looked great after their work was completed and is much safer to visitors than it was before. We will definitely ask Triple J to work on our property in the future."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Fort Mcdowell, AZ

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
