"My experience with Rogers Basement Waterproofing has been excellent. I initially contacted them a few years ago to get some insight into water issues in our basement. Paul came and gave me some suggestions I could try on my own before doing extensive work. After some time it became apparent I would still need professional work done. I had multiple companies come out, but felt most comfortable with Paul and Rogers Basement Waterproofing. Paul was available anytime I reached out and did an excellent job answering my questions and coming up with solutions for our problem. We ended up having them do waterproofing in our unfinished basement and crawlspace. The crew took extra steps to ensure cleanliness (ex: they put up barriers, covered the steps, etc.). Our basement looks amazing and has been dry since they finished their work. On top of all that, Paul even contacted me after the work was finished to make sure I was happy with it and to reach out if I ever have any questions. The crew worked hard and was very efficient. I would recommend them for any basement water issues anyone is having."

"This company is a go to company. I had some large cracks in my foundation due to some prior water damage. I had another company come in for an estimate and they wanted 3 times more money and much more invasive plan. The Basement Guys told me that it was not necessary to do all that and also provides a lifetime warranty. They were very efficient, thorough and very professional. They also cleaned up and were great to work with. They work for the company and do not subcontract. A+ company!"

"Everything was an A+. We have a basement but instead of a walk-out basement, we have a walk-out pit area in our basement. So evidently, the walls were poured to be basement walls instead of a retaining wall. I am not an engineer so I don't know but we did have an engineering company come out and do a study and stuff and that's what they determined and so Acculevel came out and installed 6 support braces that they drilled into through the walls and stuck these braces into the ground at an angle like some of them are 13 ft deep. And these supports that they installed are guaranteed for life and it's supposed to prevent our walls for ever caving in. And we hope that it will work."

"We are very pleased with the people, service, quality, and the finish product.  We were more interested in a quality job than a fast one. The cost was considerably more than we planned, but some of that was upgrades by our choice. Do it right, <br /> so you don't look back and have regrets. We spent a lot of time on layout and function, so it looks god and is user friendly. We would defiantly recommend  Hartville Hardware for a remodel."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Fresno, OH

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
