He advised me to call a roofing company as the damage was extensive, but said he'd replace the damaged ceiling panels and trim afterward. Meanwhile, he completed the garage. He took out the space heater my husband had installed (a fire hazard), insulated the heck out of the area, and repaired/replaced the drywall.
