"They arrived on time and they spread the job out sufficiently enough to permit cement base and mortar to cure before acid washing. They left the job site very clean. As a bonus they cleaned the mildewed sidewalks."

"P.K. Masonry arrived at my home on three different days on time, ready and willing to start the work. I was impressed how carefully he measured and drew out the plans for the fireplace. On my fireplace install PK was always concerned with what I was asking for, and listened to what I had to say. We didn't always agree, but he showed great patience dealing with me who knows nothing about what it takes to build a fireplace. I love my new fireplace that he built and will enjoy owning it for years to come. I definitely would hire PK again and have a job for him, planned for the future."

"I was extremely pleased from the beginning of the project to the end. Everyone was professional from the office, project manager, Shane, to the project team, Jason, Ray & Carson. They covered up the finished part of the basement to prevent messing it up. They installed a drainage system with a new sump pump & connected a dehumidifier to the sump pump for continuous drainage. They cleaned up the inside & outside and you can't tell they were there except for the great system installed that is working beautifully!"

"Very nice and professional. Realize that the offer is for about 5 cu yds of mulch and order extra depending on your needs. They spread the mulch for the same price I usually pay just for purchase and delivery of the same amount."

"Tim came with ideas. He is not only a landscaper but a true architect. He but gave use multiple ideas and gave us many revised quotes and solutions on how to fix water run-off, ways to make our patio more useful and amazingly beautiful ideas on how to soften our retaining wall with plants. I could not have imagined that my backyard would be a beautiful place that not only solved our water run off problems but looks like a true designer was present with an overall vision. He was always courteous, on-time, flexible and patient as I reworked our budget and wanted to understand all our options. I would highly recommend him and look forward to working with him again."

"First the Good News: <br /> <ul> <li>David honored an estimate from a year prior (well, within $500 anyway), which other providers could not do (in fact other providers were asking 15-20% more for the same job this year).</li> </ul> <br /> David responds to phone calls and texts during, throughout, and after the project to answer questions or address concerns. <br /> Entire crew was personable. <br /> Some Bad News: <br /> At end of 2nd day (1/2 day to prep, 1/2 day to pour), all but one of crew left, including owner who asked for check.  Project was looking good (pour in place and now smoothing--I was told remaining crew would simply need to clean up and we'd be set).  I wrote check and when I came out of the house an hour or so later I found a mess of plastic water bottles, concrete spills on the side of my property, all forming around concrete still in place, and a few equipment items lying off to the side.  I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed they'd be back to finish in the morning.  That didn't happen.  I called and left a message for Dave in the afternoon inquiring about when the project would be cleaned and completed. <br /> That night (24 hours after the project) heavy rains created pools of water and mud in the driveway.  The next morning I left a very clear message with Dave.  He responded quickly from out-of-town and told me that if he couldn't get an employee over to finish the job that day (Saturday), that he would personally come on Monday.  In the meantime I popped out the forming at the bottom of the driveway myself to drain the water, ran a hose to assess proper draining and cleaned up the bottles and trash.   <br /> By Monday eveningI was ready to stop payment of the check, but one of the crew showed up around 6:30 PM and got to the cleaning and finishing.  After a couple of hours he told me that his saw was not working and that he'd have to come back again the next night to finish the line cutting.  As it turned out Dave himself came out to perform the line-cutting the next night (Tuesday), and the project was finally complete. <br /> Good News again: <br /> The sloping driveway drains well (not perfect, but likely as close to it as one could reasonably expect.  It looks great! <br /> <br />"

"<p>We called Green Brothers to ask about soil for a raised garden bed and then stopped in to see the available resources prior to pick up. What they offered up front was rich garden soil; they have several different types of soil, gravel, slate in piles/pits on site.</p> <p>On the day of pick up, we spoke to the front end guy who was very short on his responses, not customer oriented at all, this was the first tip off that should have sent us packing. I tried to ask about the soil type, what the were actually going to load in our truck, was it for a raised garden bed, specifically growing tomatoes, herbs; he huffed and repeated his Yes-that's what you grow in with a poor attitude. The loader approached our vehicle from the back of the property, not even near the humus pile they keep on display out front. It didn't look, feel or smell enriched at all though he said again yes-yes it was.</p> <p>Basically, we got fill dirt. I rechecked this with a nursery in the area that carry only bagged soil, we had been given fill dirt with no sustaining qualities for gardening. What a shame that businesses force ou to take whatever they load onto the vehicle all the while knowing the plan was for home grown vegetables.</p> <p>We put this low grade junk into fill areas in the yard.</p> <p>Luckily we were sent to a nursery out to Twin Branch Nursery in Woodstock Georgia that carries much better materials.</p> <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Grantville, GA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
