"We bought an older home and had toilet backup issues just a few weeks after moving in. I called 3 "A" rated plumbers on Angie's List. Jack was very reasonably priced when compared to the other two I contacted (one of those companies wanted $370/hr on the weekend). Jack spent a 1/2 day trying to clear obstructions from the downstairs toilet -- he pulled out cotton shop towels, masking tape and other items likely left by remodelers hired by the previous owner. He also pulled tree roots out which was a bad sign. Unable to clear the blockage, he brought a crew back on Monday to trace the line using an electronic device. Since the line didn't have cleanouts, it's wasn't apparent how the line went from the house to the street. Jack brought an excavator and proceeded to take out the old line (which was packed full) and clear blockages both to the house and from the curb to the street. He installed new PVC pipe with 3 cleanouts. I'm thankful that we were able to connect to existing pipe and didn't have to tear up the new patio. Jack and his crew are a hard workers - spending 11+ hours on this job. He had given me a quote prior to doing the work and actually gave a significant discount since he didn't have to dig as deep as originally thought (4 ft. vs. 7 ft). I would trust him to do any work I have in the future and he will be the first one I call."

"It went very well.  They were friendly, professional, proud of their work and absolutely did not mind answering our millions of questions.  They cleaned up after themselves and did not leave a mess (wish our children would follow suit).  The bathroom subfloor had water damage due to cracked tile and they realized the original contractor had used the wrong type of flooring.  They corrected that, replaced the tile, added more support in the basement and basically made our previously ugly bathroom pretty again.  We plan on remodeling the entire home and will be using them.   <br />"

"<strong>HIGHLY RECOMMEND! </strong>  <strong>Their work is impeccable</strong>.  They painted nearly all rooms in my home.  Painting was very professional--lines on walls where paint was different colors was perfect.  My house was tidied every day they were there working, all their supplies stacked neatly in garage.  As they completed work the rooms were vacuumed & 'swiffered' to clean up dust.  Never found drips of paint or a mess.  No job was too small--they completed my 'honey do' list very well.  I had a smaller scope of work when we started but added more work when I experienced the quality of what they delivered. <br /> Janacek completely remodeled my master bath and did an outstanding job.  I've never done this kind of work before so really didn't have an organized plan or knew what I was getting into but they provided excellent guidance and LOVE the final product. They remodeled a wall between 2 rooms that was a mistake when I built the house & it's made a very positive difference in the look of the rooms--the plan was their recommendation. <br /> I've had other contractors work on my home over the years & have a few poor experiences.  I will use Janacek for all of my home repair/remodel needs in the future.  You may find someone who is less expensive but in my experience you get what you pay for. Quality work & trust is worth the money.  Working during the day, the teams were in my home on their own & I had no issues with their professional approach to respecting me, my home & my belongings.  This is very important to me as I had one contractor steal from me during a job which made me leery to hire someone--NO worries with the Janacek team. <br /> I met Janacek at the Home Show this year along with 2 other contractors.  One never bothered to call me back after several contacts, one came to my home & gave some great ideas but never followed up after the in home visit.  Janacek came right away to discuss the projects & followed through on the work in a timely manner. <br /> if you're looking for a contractor to do quality, trustworthy work on your home--Janacek is your best bet! <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Gravette, AR

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
