"Steve came over and gave us some good news (not a foundation problem), but also gave us a reference to someone who repairs concrete for the type of problem we have. He really knew all about these issues and told us some signs to look for that would indicate a real foundation problem. Very pleasant company to deal with."

"The estimator, Jacob, was very professional and provided several options. His bid was competitive. After negotiating a price, the work was scheduled for a few weeks later. The three-person crew arrived on time and got right to work. They did a good job keeping the interior of our home clean. However, some of their work was substandard. They failed to secure the new vapor barrier adequately in several locations and they disposed of a broken concrete (they had to remove it from our driveway for the discharge pipe and drain) by scattering it beneath some trees in our landscaped beds. When I discovered those issues the next day, I called John's and they had someone fix the problem with the vapor barrier and remove the concrete a few weeks later."
Trim around fireplace was removed and mold found along the base
Fiberglass was drooping away from the home, removing its insulation value
Fiberglass Insulation was falling down in clumps from water weight
This window had been upgraded and given trim to give a clean and finished look
Re removed the below-grade sections of the wall and waterproofed with ThermalDry Radiant vapor barrier and installed a drain system around the interior perimeter

"I contacted Foundations First NorthWest and a couple of other contractors when an inspection revealed some foundation settling and crawl space damage. I chose Foundations First to make the repairs because they included more work, and at a lower price, than their competitors. I can't say enough about how professional everyone at Foundations First NorthWest was, from the first meeting with the sales rep to the constant communication with office staff throughout the project. Every step was completed without a hitch -- getting permits, engineering, the repair work and county inspections. The work crews worked quickly and efficiently on both the installation of stabilizing foundation piers, and also on the crawl space repairs. And they left the work areas in a very clean condition. I highly recommend Foundations First!"

"Terra Firma folks explained things clearly, did the needed filling with their foam filler and patched the fill holes. All done in just a few hours. Sure beats the time and cost of tearing up the concrete, bringing in fill and re-pouring. We've referred several family and friends. Recommend TR highly."

"They were not the lowest estimate, but did a lot more than the others quoted. For my sidewalk from the front of my house to the base of the steps from my deck he excavated, set forms, added gravel, compacted the soil, added rebar and used high strength concrete. Result looks very good."

"Overall, Ted gets an A-. The minus because a couple of the strip footings were not level to each other and a bit of cleanup was required to remove all the nails from the forms..the good news is that they were short, which allowed the framer to easily fix things...it was critical that the floor was as level as possible for wine racking. The pour went very well and was clean -- they used a pump truck to pump the concrete through a window...the footings looked good and the mixture seemed great -- no signs of cracking or air bubbles. Most of the forms were removed as instructed, for backfill...only one was left as it was unreachable...epoxy was used for the dowels, as engineered and instructed...Ted knows what he is doing, he does a quality job, and asked very good questions -- questions that made it clear that he was on top of things and thinking ahead. I really liked Ted. There were a slew of engineering complications that made this job very complex. I will not go into the details, but the engineer was able to come up with a workable solution following some discussions w/Ted on the implementation problems...Ted was very astute and pointed out a number of practical execution problems that we eventually worked though. It should be noted that this room was designed for 75,000lbs...the concrete loading is substantial and there was no room for error....the soil loading was at the edge as well, especially on the pier pads...Ted delivered."

"Norm showed up on time for the initial appointment.  We had split the job into 2 sections since we weren't sure we could afford the entire job.  He explained that doing both sections would take only the minimum required amount of concrete (i.e., doing the "second" section wouldn't cost much more than the main section).  His bid was competitive and he was easy to communicate with.
He and his crew showed up exactly as promised, as did the concrete crew.  We made a last minute change (about 3 more feet of concrete) which he didn't charge us extra for.  They did exactly what was promised, cleaned up beautifully and we are very pleased with the result.  The weather cooperated as well, so there weren't any weather-related delays.

FAQs for concrete foundation raise projects in Gresham, OR

On average, it takes two to seven days to physically raise your house. However, this does not include the preparation work, which is often the most lengthy process. The entire project, including preparation, obtaining permits, disconnecting utilities, and any subsequent landscaping, can take four to eight weeks. This timeline ensures everything is done safely and that your home remains structurally sound.

If proper safety protocols are not followed, raising a house can cause severe damage, as the process involves applying controlled force to the home's structure. The risks involved make it crucial to hire a skilled contractor who uses engineered methods to secure your home and prevent any harm to your household.

If your foundation shows signs of instability after raising your home, you might need to add structural support. A structural engineer can assess your foundation and recommend reinforcements to ensure your house stays stable and safe for the long term. Available support options include installing additional piers or pilings, reinforcing existing footings, or using steel beams to distribute the load more evenly.

You will need a structural engineer to assess your home before you begin. These professionals determine whether your house is suitable for lifting and identify any issues that could compromise its stability. Their expertise ensures that the project is designed correctly and all risks are managed to achieve a successful lift.
