"If I could leave no stars for this horrible company, that would be too many. Called on a Saturday due to a problem with our heat. The sent out a helper (their word) was nice but due to a slight delay, the owner, Jason, called his helper and was bent out of shape because he assumed he was "standing around wasting time and money." We had a broken thermostat, and they wanted $100 to replace it (connecting five wires), $100 for a fuse (even though we had aone on hand) and $199 for the service call. We had to wait for the helper to go get a new fuse. I have NEVER been spoken to so rudely by a business owner and treated with such distain. We are on a contract with them, so they service our HVAC regularly and are paid upfront for a yearly contact. We are supposed to receive a 10% discount on any repair -- we didn't get the discount. When leaving, I asked for a receipt and was told they could email it. They were also disappointed we were paying by check. Hire another company. "

"We moved into a new house and after some unusually cold temps found the heat wasn’t keeping up. Called Russel’s and scheduled appt in a few days but asked if someone canceled and they could fit us in sooner , we’d appreciate it. They ended up sending somebody out that night. Didn’t take long to figure out the issue. And the technician was very nice and helpful. Even sent quotes very next day for some additional work that we’re considering."

"My family is alive today because of this company. We contracted with Bill to perform our spring AC start up and fall heat start up. We built a home in Chesapeake and our home was new construction. Bill found a major gas leak in the attic that could have cost us our property; it could have cost us our lives. No idea how long it had been leaking but nobody touched the system since the house was built. Do yourselves a favor and go with this contractor because your comfort, even your life could depend on it. I have referred him to many friends and neighbors; now I’m sharing this with you. "

"Comfortable Climate and Heating owned by Jason, a most honorable business. We have been a customer for 8 years. They came out quickly to work on our minisplit unit. Jonathan diagnosed the problem and kept me up to date on repair status. I would highly recommend this company for AC repair service."

FAQs for central a/c service or repair projects in Hampton, VA

A condenser fan motor is a crucial part of your air conditioner that prevents the compressor from overheating. It pulls heat from your AC unit to cool the refrigerant moving through the condenser coils. This allows your system to blow cool air and keeps everything running smoothly.

The most common causes of AC fan motor failure include loss of lubricant in the system due to overheating and a rusted or leaking run capacitor. Poor lubrication can also cause failure in the belt drive, which may impact the AC fan motor. Weather and electrical components can also affect your AC. For example, a storm could send water into your motor windings and damage the internal components.

Air conditioner fan motors last about 12 years on average, though they can last longer if maintained well. This includes keeping them clean and cooled as needed with annual air conditioner checkups. Routine maintenance is essential to catch AC fan issues early. An HVAC inspection can cost between $70 and $500, while AC cleaning services may range from $100 to $400.

A broken AC fan motor may need replacement because this part usually can’t be repaired. Several things indicate it’s time to replace your AC fan motor, including buzzing noises, a constantly running fan, unusually high energy bills, or an aging system. If you notice these signs, call an HVAC pro for help before the faulty motor starts to strain other parts of the AC system.

There are clear warning signs of a bad AC fan motor, including unusual interruptions in the fan operation. The motor might be malfunctioning if you hear weird noises like grinding or rattling or if the fan continues to spin when the unit is off. These indicators compromise your AC’s cooling performance and increase your energy costs. Addressing these issues immediately by contacting a trusted HVAC professional prevents further damage and safeguards your HVAC's efficiency.

Replacing your AC fan motor takes a professional one to four hours. The technician will start by assessing your system and safely removing the damaged motor. If a new part needs to be ordered, it might take a few days. Once the part is available, your pro will install it properly and make sure your system is running smoothly.
