"I was interested in getting new kitchen cabinets, but I did not want to make any changes in the current layout.  I found out that refacing was the best option for what I wanted based on need and cost.  They were very efficient and professional.  I was very pleased with my new cabinets.  The only downside to the new cabinets are the brackets that hold the drawers are not equip to hold much weight.  So, the company has to come out to reinforce the drawers after installation."

"Great! He arrived on time, with the right amount of crew, tools and positive attitude! He was very experienced with Ikea cabinets and knew when we had purchased the wrong items. He also knew when to send me back to Ikea for different parts. Ikea made alot of mistakes and he knew that was common. He wrote down the numbers of the items i needed which was extremely helpful. He and his crew were fantastic and i would hire him again in the future. His prices were very reasonable and i appreciated that. I had two glass doors that were on back order so he said i could hold back $200 from his pay until they czme in. I called him on Sunday and told him i just picked them up. He told me they would be there on Monday morning to finish the job. Of course he arrived on time and he finished the job quickly. Of the 4 companies i hired to do various things in my kitchen his was the only one i didnt have issues with. I asked him to install the lights inside and underneath the cabinets and install the microwave. The lights were difficult but he worked hard until they were done. They make the whole kitchen shine! He was extremely reasonable with the microwave installation price. I asked him for several cards and already passed them out to people that wanted a new kitchen i told them he is the best installer i ever hired. He made this overwhelming project so much easier."

"MW was great! We bought a fixer-upper a few years ago and decided to turn our basement into a rental apartment. We initially hired one company to underpin the basement and, if things worked out, intended to use that same company to finish the basement. After we ran into numerous problems with the other company, we started looking for another to finish the job. In comes MW. Greg came to our place and gave us a very fair estimate. Not the highest, not the lowest, but the most comprehensive. We decided on MW for a few reasons. They had some great back-office support, with design and purchasing. They were responsive to our requests/questions at the beginning of the project and throughout--and we had LOTS of questions and concerns after our terrible experience with the first company. They were willing to work with us on the budget and gave some great suggestions on how to save costs but not compromise quality. Most importantly, MW promised--and delivered--on having a project manager at our house EVERY DAY to check in. Matt is fantastic. For example, when we had a sump pump malfunction on December 23,

MW was also great when we ran into a problem with our kitchen cabinets. The color of the top and bottom cabinets were switched and were ordered incorrectly, and it was not what we had wanted. MW gave us the option to keep the incorrect cabinets, to reorder just the top cabinets (which were the problem, really), or reorder all the cabinets--at their expense. They did a fantastic job of making sure we were happy with everything

He came over and got it sorted out for us, even though it was right before the holiday. We are in the process of getting another quote from MW for more work on our house (bathroom, front door, closet), and hope to keep working with them for years to come."

"This was a purchase of tile for the main bathroom (second of three bathrooms that needed complete reno). I am very fussy - want tile made in the U.S., want a certain look, and don't want beige. That makes it hard to find tile in my price range. Jud had a line that no one else in the area carries - McIntyre. I went over to look and found something I really liked. Overall the price was OK but the decorative pieces were super-expensive. We decided to take the plunge.
FYI, they have a nice selection; none of it is inexpensive.
We worked with Holly who was extremely nice and patient but I didn't have confidence that she really knew much about tile. As with the other high-end store we'd worked with for our downstairs bath, I ended up doing all the calculations myself. Very nerve-wracking when you are talking about custom tile and thousands of dollars.
Like the other high-end place, they charge for delivery which I find to be super-chintzy.
We did have one small problem (not Jud's fault) and Holly very promptly tried to resolve it for us but it turned out that the manufacturer doesn't make the kind of corner piece we needed. Also, our contractor was worried that the decorative pieces should not be used on the floor (big panic!) and Holly was able to get the answer from the manufacturer within a couple of hours.
All's well that end's well - the tile is gorgeous and our contractor was able to come up with a very creative solution for the two corner pieces.

"Very well. Robert explained the work they would do and he coordinated tile, plumbing and countertop replacement. We had an early 80's kitchen that needed help but we didn't want a major renovation. They updated our cabinets with new, larger doors, painted the frames, added soft-close hinges, and constructed a new cabinet to replace a built-in desk. New backsplash, granite countertops, and hardware. Their work was a superb value and we're pleased with our new "bright" kitchen!"

"They were okay. It was a little expensive for what we got. It is very versatile. They are heavy duty wall panels that have horizontal slits in it and the system hangs from those slits. The biggest advantage is that we can move things around if our needs change. I've had to reinforce a couple of the cabinets and the shelving in the corners. It is plastic but it holds up pretty well because it is protected in the garage. I didn't think the amount of weight it says it will hold was necessarily correct in all cases. The hooks have been fine. My only issues have been with the cabinets. The price is pretty steep. They were late and it took them several days to get it installed."

"I had no intentions of replacing my kitchen cabinets at my newly purchased house, but after visiting this place I was absolutely trilled with the selection and price. Staff and Uran in particular was very helpful during my selection process.Talking about cabinet quality is another reason I decided do change my cabinets. This is not one of those cheap cabinets made of particle board. All the cabinets they were offering me were made of wood and plywood.
Everyone who steps into my kitchen immediately notices that luxury look and asks for the company's contact information.
Five stars service and quality!"

"Dariush did an awesome job on all worked performed.  He arrived on scheduled date and time.  He restretched, and repaired as needed in three rooms (bedrooms, closest stairwell landing) and moved furniture at no extra cost.  He is very particular and attentive to doing a professional job and explained the process each step of the way.  He took his time to ensure that the work was completed professionally.  He knows his trade and business.  I will never use another vendor to do this kind of work and highly recommend his service.

"We love our cabinets! They look fantastic while remaining affordable. The friendly staff at AWD helped us from start to finish. They are very knowledgeable and gave us advice and tips when needed. They were receptive and patient with our ever-changing needs. Once we finalized our purchase, we received our cabinets within two weeks! The cabinets are very sturdy and the color is beautiful. The hinges and hardware are high quality. We are extremely pleased with AWD and would recommend them to any friends or family looking for good cabinets at a fair price."

FAQs for cabinets repair projects in Helen, MD

The timeframe for kitchen cabinet removal varies significantly based on quantity and installation complexity. Professional contractors typically complete standard kitchens within 4 to 8 hours, though complicated configurations involving plumbing or electrical components may extend to 1 to 2 days. Homeowners tackling this as a DIY project should allocate substantially more time—often 1 to 3 full days—as careful extraction requires methodical work to prevent property damage.

Kitchen cabinets can indeed be salvaged for reuse when removed carefully. Construction material significantly impacts success rates—hardwood cabinets generally survive extraction better than composite materials, which tend to chip or break. For optimal preservation, document the original layout, remove doors and hardware first, then methodically detach units from walls and adjacent cabinets. Professional removal significantly increases the likelihood of successful cabinet preservation.

Disposal options for kitchen cabinets depend largely on their condition and your local waste management regulations. Cabinets in reasonable condition might find new homes through donation centers or online marketplaces. For damaged units, professional waste removal services offer convenience, while dumpster rentals provide flexibility for larger projects. Some municipalities offer special collection services for bulky items, though advance scheduling is typically required.

Wall damage during cabinet removal represents a legitimate concern for many homeowners. The risk varies based on installation methods—cabinets attached directly to drywall without backing supports pose greater challenges than properly mounted units. Professional removal minimizes damage through specialized techniques and appropriate tools. Even with careful extraction, expect some minor wall repairs. Older installations and homes with plaster walls require particularly delicate handling to prevent significant damage.
