"It was done very well. I have HEW steam clean my carpets every year before Thanksgiving. I know they are sanitized and all the coffee and wine spots are gone. They look so much better, and he gives us plastic booties to wear if we need to walk on them the first several hours."

"Juan and his dad are very friendly very hard workers. On the floor refinishing. They refinished 20+ year old floors. They replaced water damaged wood. Very good job. There are sanding marks in some areas, but overall very good. They just need to slow down a little. On tile install: Looks good, but tile is not professionally level. It's nicely done, but few tiles are not well lined up, and not level. We had a very large floor area to install but I don't recall them using a level. It certainly looks good. They still need to come back and finish a few things (thresholds). I've called Juan once, but need to call him again to remind him.... I would recommend them. They are good on price, they need to slow down a bit, and finish up."

"We were looking for a reasonable price to have our second bathroom remodeled/renovated, and looking to have it done soon. Saw a Facebook ad from Kitchen & Bath Direct where they were offering a special until the end of the year. Salesperson came out and evaluated/measured and gave us a quote on what we wanted.  Then the owner, Rafael, and one of his installers, Javier, came by to measure and sit with us to discuss the project.  There were things we wanted done that were above what their special offered.  They had no problem including additional things that we wanted (like adding a exhaust fan, tile in the tub area to the ceiling, new door, adding an access panel, raising the height of the shower head, etc.).  They said once we signed the contracts and provided the first deposit, they could schedule the work to start the following week.  They tore down to the studs, removed and disposed of everything in the bathroom (they took it with them and didn't even leave it with our trash pickup).  They put down runners to protect the floor and were very good about keeping things clean.  They kept in communications with us about what they suggested and worked with us to pick out cabinets, light fixtures, tile, wall color, etc.  They were very patient and went above and beyond what we had expected. Javier and Jose worked tirelessly for hours each day to get things done, even working for 12 hours on a Sunday since we were available, to get the bathroom done before Christmas.  The only real delays were because of items not arriving to the store for pickup when needed, and an ice storm on Saturday that caused them to not be able to make it to our house (driving from No. VA to Bowie, MD).
For their discounted price, most of the fixtures and amenities came from Home Depot.  We didn't mind that  since this was our second bathroom, and we found they looked just as good as custom items that may come from contractors at a higher cost.   They are a flooring company, so their tiles are from their tile supplier.
They came back after Christmas just to touch-up some and finish cleaning the driveway.
We LOVED the final product!  The colors, items and style they suggested looked great!  We are completely satisfied with our bathroom and would use them again or recommend them without hesitation.

"I'm very happy with the results of our work and I think working with Oscar gave a nice balance of service, price, and quality. His prices were very competitive compared to other quotes. I've shared a bunch of detail here because I found it hard to make sense of reglazing services as I was shopping. Hope the review helps you. The end results of their services were excellent. The tub and tile look brand new, and the old cracks and chips have basically disappeared. Service was somewhere between good and excellent when you put it all together, just communication was a bit bumpy along the way at times. Oscar stuck with it until we had a plan in place, immediately followed up to get repairs done where the initial work on some of the crack repairs needed improvement, and immediately offered a discount for the inconvenience. Here are a few things to keep in mind. 1) Oscar will provide a quote based on pictures you send. If you have a simple job e.g. reglaze a tub or tile that do not have any cracks, I would expect this to go very smoothly. In my case we had some repairs that needed to happen and the text communication / quote was confusing and took some time to get locked down. 2) There's not a lot of hand holding so you need to get yourself comfortable with how the process works and the results you can expect. It was new for me, so that took some faith. 3) People talk about fumes, needing to get out of the house, etc. I was surprised how little odor there was. They use a fan to vent the fumes out a window. 4) On that front, keep in mind that they will need to run a flexible duct to a window that is not in the bathroom. We didn't know that. It's messy and we had to clean up the room where the fan was. 5) The repair work to the cracks in our tile needed to be redone after the first try. It felt to me like the initial work was pretty sloppy, but I don't have experience with this so it may be the nature of the process that you need to do a rough finish, then come in and sand / shape the repair, and touch up the paint. You might just want to ask Oscar. 6) The guys who did the actual work didn't clean up after themselves (and this is why I only rated "professionalism" as "fair"). There was dirt on the floors, tape residue stuck on tile, fixtures, and the floor, and paint overspray on walls, fixtures, and the floor that I had to clean up. No good excuse for that - just recognize you may need to do some heavy cleaning after they leave. 7) It was all done in a day, then Oscar came back the next day to do repairs. Okay, hope that helps someone out there!"

"After showing Sandy the pics of the broken piece Sandy immediately knows how to fix this problem, and she also warned us beforehand, the end result might not show 100% uniformity with the remaining granite in our kitchen, since no two batches of granite will have the same pattern or texture.  She showed us ArchitectureStones granite inventory, which was huge, and we immediately found what we were looking for.
Next day, Alex came in to see the situation, and suggested that he has to take that piece plus the kitchen sink out in order for ArchitectureStones to cut the granite according to the exact measurements.  After Alex and his crew took this slab out, and brought it to Architecture Stones workshop, Sandy immediately send me comparison pics of the slabs that is nearest to our piece, and we made our choice, all this solely through email communication.  At the appointed date ArchitectureStones came and installed the replacement slab in a matter of one hour, and it looked beautiful.  It is not 100% similar to our original granite, but you hardly recognized it at a glance.  We were so satisfied, and we would definitely recommend this business for your kitchen or bathroom renovation or repair needs.  The whole staff and crew of ArchitectureStones are really professional and dedicated people!

"CRG and Cornelio (the owner) get our highest recommendation. We contracted with CRG Remodeling in May 2019 for a kitchen and powder room remodel in Washington DC, and ended up doing much more, including LR/DR/hallway painting, plumbing fixes, and an office remodel. We found Cornelio to be honest, highly efficient, professional, responsive, can-do and flexible. He is easy to communicate with, punctual, skillful, and knowledgeable. The team fixed problems as needed and any additional work was priced fairly. He has an excellent crew which was capable of doing most of the work (floor sanding was done by others). CRG Remodeling is well run and a good value. We cannot say enough good things about Cornelio and his crew and would definitely hire CRG Remodeling for any future jobs."

"The technician who came out to take measurements claimed that he was part of the design team for both this company. He also claimed he was a designer for the Devon Hill housing development in which I lived at that time, so he was familiar with houses and the kitchen cabinets. After he took the measurements, he promised he would send me a rendering of the design to my email, but I never received this design for a kitchen remodel. I tried to contact them at least once directly, but I could not speak with anyone in person. I left a voicemail that was never returned. Then I contacted Angie's List for assistance."

"I hired Mega Kitchen and Bath to remodel my kitchen and bathroom. The process started with the Project Manager, Ibrahim, coming and discussing what I wanted. He gave a detailed account to Katherine, the Designer. Her design gave me everything I needed- plenty of storage in the kitchen. My budget was small, but they stayed on budget and provided quality and stylish materials-kitchen cabinets, backsplash, countertops, sink & flooring. Bathroom tub, tile surround, flooring and accessories. Grober, Johnny and the tile guy are master craftsmen. They did an excellent job, meeting every repair challenge and putting up with me. I am very happy with this company. Hope to work with them again."

FAQs for tile: ceramic and porcelain repair projects in Helen, MD

People use the terms refinishing, resurfacing, and reglazing interchangeably. Refinishing is a process that repairs old tiles and gives them a fresh new coat of finish. This is also called tile resurfacing or reglazing.

Yes, you can refinish tiles as a DIY project, but it’s important to follow all the steps involved. These include the following:

  1. Clean the tiles or hire a local tile cleaning service to remove all the residue (soap film, oil, grease, and dirt).

  2. Etch the tile to ensure the refinishing solution adheres properly.

  3. Fill in any cracks or chips in the tile.

  4. Recoat the grout.

  5. Repair any missing or damaged caulking where applicable.

  6. Apply the refinishing product, primer, and enamel.

Your newly reglazed tile should last between 10 and 15 years with proper installation. However, higher-traffic areas and moisture may result in a reduced life span. Explore the cost of different tile types to determine which material works best for your home and needs.

Your bathtub and tile refinishing cost will likely seem like a small price to pay for the transformation it offers. Provided your tile and grout are both intact, refinishing will bring a brand-new style at a fraction of the cost.

Yes, most ceramic tile is paintable with specific epoxy or tile paints. However, you’ll want to avoid areas of heavy use or moisture, such as countertops, showers, and bathtubs. Paint can crack, bubble, or wear away over time, especially on floors.
