"Eric and his brother came by our property to give us an estimate on a paver driveway and we told them that we had six other people coming over for estimates and they said that’s great. Just let us know which way you’d like to go and that was it for the time so then we listened to the other estimates that other companies gave us and I called Eric back and told him to come by so we can discuss it further and I let him know that some other places were cheaper and some other places were more expensive but I just felt more comfortable with Eric and his brother and their knowledge of the projects. We set up a time to do the work which at this time I had added two more sections of the property to have work done and they showed up on the day that they said they would and the people that installed the pavers knew what they were doing and worked or tails off and they did a fantastic job and everything was leveled out perfect and the Yard looks great. I would recommend Rock and Block highly."

"They answered the call out for help with our landscape irrigation system within two minutes of posting the request. They arrived at our house within 30 minutes and IMMEDIATELY went to work! I’ve never seen anyone work harder or faster, getting the job done, with additional requests for removing five dead plants and repairing the broken pipe within 45 minutes. The neighbor even came over and asked for a business card! Absolutely the best team EVER!!!!!! "

"Removed the landscape plants, installed brick to expand our patio and created a walkway from the backyard to the front. Planted a new tree, moved the irrigation box and rerouted the sprinkler supply for the vegetation that remained in the backyard. Over all I was very pleased with the result of Keny's work."

"Fredy Clavel showed up on time and answered all e-mail questions in a timely manner.  He and his workers were very professional.  They cleaned up the area when they were finished working.  <br /> We paid $400.00 to have the two dead trees removed from our yard, and they did it all in less than a day and still had time to prepare the yard for the rock they were going to put down the following day.  <br /> We paid $1,550.00 for 950 square feet of white rock and 230 square feet of crushed red granite.  The white rock was 3/4" in size and used for ground cover.  The crushed red granite was compacted and used to create a pathway.  Red edging was installed along the sides of the pathway.  Fabric to prevent weed growth was installed underneath everything.  <br /> All the work was completed on Thursday, January 15, and Friday, January 16.  Everything looks wonderful.  <br /> We have a huge yard, and this is just the first part of a larger landscaping project.  We will definitely hire Fredy and his crew to finish our yard when our budget permits.  We couldn't be happier with their work. <br />"

"We just completed the re-landscaping of our 28 year old front yard. Removal of grass and all existing plants, bushes, trees and rocks. Replaced with desert landscape with the goal of low maintenance, drought tolerant and curb appeal. After meeting with several landscape companies we settled on Schilling Horticulture Group. Norm Schilling and our landscape architect Laura Miller impressed us with their knowledge of plants and design ideas best suited for our property. Laura Miller's design was exactly what we wanted but over budget. She quickly reworked the design into our budget without loosing the essence of the original design. The work started April 20th and finished April 28th. Their team of workers were excellent. From demolition to building the property wall, to installing an irrigation system. Their attention to detail in plant, boulder and rock placement was impressive. They were very organized and obviously experienced in the process and it couldn't have gone better. The end product exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend Schilling Horticulture Group for their earth friendly, beautiful designs and efficient team of workers."

"We hired Pueblo Verde Landscape Maintenance, Inc, in Las Vegas, to install our irrigation system for our newly planted trees, bushes, and ocotillo plants after we had interviewed Raul from this company for installing our porcelain pavers. We liked Raul very much from the start as he was candid and sincere about what he felt comfortable doing and what he didn’t. Although he had installed other types of pavers frequently, he told us that he had no experience with porcelain and thus would not be comfortable taking that job. However, he did offer to fit us in his busy schedule to install our badly needed irrigation system the very next day to alleviate our 3 hours per day of hand watering. Raul and his team showed up as scheduled and completed the project at a reasonable price. Raul spent much time with me patiently discussing watering needs for each of our plant types and used the appropriate emitters for the job. He also advised us on a number of other yard projects that we intended to accomplish such as adding a lighting system to highlight our yard at night. He and Adalberto were very responsive to follow up with our needs and promptly replaced a broken switch box cover whose latch had been damaged during the job, repaired a leak in an irrigation line that we had caused during staking of the ocotillo, extended and adjusted the irrigation emitters for our 7 trees, and moved a switch box that they had installed in the middle of a walkway area that had not yet been developed. We were not charged for any of these follow-up visits. Raul went well above our expectations when he offered to and completed the adding of new additional irrigation that we intended to do ourselves to all 10 of our ocotillo plants. This took him about 2 hours on a 110 degree day and saved us some 5-10 hours of work! Finally, on one of his follow-up visits, Raul found a large underground irrigation leak in an irrigation line newly installed by another contractor who had done our porcelain paver job and automatically repaired it without commenting or charging us. It is difficult to find highly qualified contractors in Las Vegas that provide quality work. We cannot recommend Raul and his company, Pueblo Verde Landscape Maintenance, highly enough. They are prompt, efficient, responsive, sincere and honest, and affordable, and go above and beyond. They take pride in their work and ethics and we intend to use them for all of our future landscaping maintenance."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Henderson, NV

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
