"Excellent. We replaced a wood burning fireplace with a gas fireplace. We asked the company to see if they could remove the old tile without damaging it, a tricky task requiring some finesse. They managed to do that very well, and we were able to clean the old tile and have them place the tiles around the new fireplace which required a lot of precise cuts to fit the new fireplace size. They did a great job, and replaced/repaired and textured the sheetrock surrounding the fireplace. The workers were very neat and cleaned up everything when they finished. Highly recommended"

"Beautiful work, excellent communication, transparent costs, and very respectful of home! Juan regularly checked in with me to ensure I was happy with layout design, spacing, tiling, grout, installation of fixtures, etc. throughout the process. He provided good recommendations, while also having an open ear to the home owner's wants. True to his word, there were no hidden fees. The cost for the labor was as discussed prior to the start of the job and material costs were transparent. Also true to his word, Juan demo'd old tile, prepped the shower area for new tile, re-tiled, and did finishing touches (e.g., grout, re-install fixtures, etc.) in 2.5 days straight, so you don't have to deal with long wait times between steps/work days. As an additional plus, everyone at the Juan Infantas Tile group was very respectful of the home. "Everything went beautifully. The tile work in the kitchen is absolutely beautiful. Our master bath shower needed a complete overhaul and Sean ripped it all out and remodeled the shower in a few days. All his work was clean and carefully done. We had a strange little closet that he made into a real closet with a finished floor and a real door. We also had a little leak outside that he traced to the cold water supply of the washer. When he opened the wall he not only fixed the leak but he re configured that mess of pipes crossing everywhere to a simple configuration. No more leak. Oh and yes, he even repainted our two small bathrooms. I would certainly recommend S-Tiling to anyone who needs work done in their home."

"Bob came out, was nice, gave a bid.  Afterwards we had a hard time getting them to schedule, apparently they were overbooked.  Then we got a call, could they come out tomorrow?  Work was done in two days, and is mostly very nice, with the exception of some badly cut and placed T-molding. 

The problems came afterwards.  The Angie's List posting clearly says, "No subs," but when I tried to give his workers a check made out to Floors on First, I encountered a certain amount of confusion.  Bob then called and said that he HAD subbed out the job and that he wanted us to make the check out to the workers, although he said we could really make it to him or his business as well,  but he didn't really want that.  It was pretty confusing.

We considered this but as we had hired Bob, not his subs, with the expectation that if something went wrong we could turn to him, and not to subs whose addresses, phone numbers, and license numbers, if any, we did not have, we sent a check made out to Floors on First.  My wife got a rude and aggressive phone call from Bob demanding that we swap out his check. He complained that he doesn't make any profit on these jobs where he doesn't sell the flooring, and now he has to pay taxes on it.

If we wanted to have a job done with no guarantees, we could have used a skilled day laborer instead rather than paying $2300 to someone who presents himself as the service provider and then turns the table on you afterwards for his personal tax reasons.  He is not someone we would choose to do business with again.
