"The whole process went very well, and we would definitely hire them again. Initial call - I was able to get a quote over the phone, and she was very helpful and friendly while explaining the process to me. She gave me a price for replacing just the screen on a standard window and one for replacing the frame and screen (if the frame could not be reused). She said they would adjust the price for smaller windows. I received a confirmation email for the appointment. Day of service - They were supposed to arrive between 11:00 - 12 noon. I called at 11:55 to see if they were coming and was told they just finished the previous job and were on their way. They arrived around 12:45. Both workers were very friendly, courteous, and professional. They were able to reuse the screen frames, and they marked each frame's location, so the screens were put back in the correct window. They completed the job in a couple of hours, and the new screens look great! One of the guys helped put back in a window that I managed to get off track when I was cleaning it. He also helped close a retractable screen (this one was not being replaced) on our storm door that was stuck. I offered to pay him for this, and he said there was no additional charge. Additional info - They removed the screens from the inside of the window, so they will need access from the inside of your house. Because some of the windows were smaller, the actual price was lower than the estimate (as she said would happen). I received a thank you email right after the job was completed. My husband told me he was pleasantly surprised at how polite and professional the workers were."

"Service person made appointment for "Tuesday afternoon." Called at noon on Tuesday to let me know he was on the way. Arrived promptly at 1 pm. Looked at screen door and we agreed to replace screen fabric. He completed work in less than an hour.  Didn't leave any mess at all.  Installed screen door back in sliding glass door track.  Very courteous.  Excellent quality work:  replacement screen was straight and taught as it should be. <br />"

And also to show them to my family and friends. Your company did an excellent job with tear off, while installing, and clean up. You have an excellent staff and you are an excellent project manager. Thank you,"

"Sales staff at their office is very friendly and knowledgeable!!! My screened-in porch is on a corner of the house that is constantly hit with a sharp breeze - the ones they installed are very high quality and have tie-downs that prevent them from blowing all-over the place - very high quality - like nothing I was able to find with other window covering companies. <br /> I am 100% happy with the quality of the product and installation. I would strongly recommend checking with this company before going anywhere else!"

"I love my Crimsafe products. I covered my entire house. The product is impressive. It is very heavy duty and I feel very safe. The product is very finished and looks clean. The installation took 2 days. It is a premium product but, worth every penny. We all rest better at night knowing that no one can break into our home. Plus it is a hurricane protection as well. So, our windows are protected during storms too. The service was great."

"Beautiful job. Had this individual put in windows also and did such a beautiful job that I had him install my screen doors. He took the old doors off, and fixed a gouge that the old door had left, pulled away from the wood when caught by the wind. His attention to detail and just overall craftsmanship was the reason I had him back. Took his time and did the job right. Cleaned all the shavings up after the job so one would not know there were new screens doors installed except they are beautiful and I tell everyone about them. When some one takes pride in their work it just shows. So even though I would like to keep this gentleman as a secret, it would not be fair to others not to have the opportunity to work with him. <br />"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Highland, IL

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
