"Richard called the same day I requested. We set an appointment for the following morning. He came in, did the job, explained what and why he did it, and my drain was unclogged. His quote to do the job was $115 less that another quote. Great value, price, speed, and service. btw he brought along his wife, as a bonus on the side she gave me some great perma-culture tips. Would definitely use again."

"I had a terrible smell coming from the faucets at the front of my house (We have two systems in this house and the back part is fine?no smell). The plumbers were prompt and professional; They diagnosed a bad water heater and replaced it for $3,000+, but the smell never left! I have called the office several times but the problem has not been corrected. They even tried to blame my water softener, but if that was the case I would have smelly water in all of the house, not just the front! I talked with another plumber who told me that the problem was definitely with the water heater! So, their initial service was good, but service after the sale is zero!!"

"If you need Foundation Repair - I cannot recommend Firm Foundation Repair enough! Mason Birdwell and his crew did an AMAZING job! We reached out to several companies to do the repairs and the prices were about 16K to 20K+. We also got back so many different variations in what companies wanted to do - that we finally hired an Independent Engineer to do the Engineering Report and Drawings and decided to determine our bids on that singular report. We contacted James Mason Birdwell @ Firm Foundation Repair and he gave us an INCREDIBLY competitive bid for 26 Exterior Piers, 9 Exterior Concrete Breakouts, 5 Interior Piers, Post-job Engineer Report, Post-job Plumbing Test, & Lifetime Transferable Warranty. He was also going to be able to come out during a timeframe that worked for us and was exceptionally responsive. Also note he is a registered contractor with the City of Carrollton as required and was issued a permit for the work ([*** Link removed ***] His crew came out on Jan 10th and started the work. They were amazing and efficient. We had two plumbing issues (~ $450) that were resolved quickly and to our satisfaction (we could have gotten a plumber, or they would call one - we let them use who they were familiar with). They wrapped up the work on Wednesday January 12th, 2022 by 4:10 PM. You can see from the pictures they cleaned up EVERYTHING! They got rid of the excess dirt from all the digging they had to do. IMO, they left my yard looking BETTER than it did BEFORE they started. They also took care of filling in cracks we had/or occurred in our bricks and other outdoor areas. Do not let lack of reviews deter you. When I did my research there were only five reviews available. I was concerned about this; however, additional research revealed his previous employer and glowing reviews regarding his work by other customers. If you have questions - I will do my best to try to answer them. I will absolutely refer them anywhere I can. If you use them, I just hope your experience is as fantastic as ours has been so far! If anything changes, I will be sure to update my reviews, but I get the impression they are working hard to prove themselves to be formidable competition to other Foundation Repair companies and will do their best to ensure customer satisfaction."

"<p>I called Cornerstone based on reviews and 'A' rating from Angie'sList reviews. I requested a bid for the repair work needed to fix the under slab leak I had found based on water seeping across my front porch. 'Paul' showed up (October 23rd)at appointed time and was friendly and very personable. He surveyed the situation and said he would give me a bid. on Monday October 27th. As of Wednesday the 29th still no bid. I called to inquire. Every time I called the phone was promptly answered and of the 2 different people I spoke with both were very courteous and helpful. Finally got bid on Thursday October 30th and gave approval for work to be done. They were told that I would be in Hawaii on November 9th and would like the leak fixed before I left and rain hit on Tuesday November the 4th. They got started early Friday morning of the 5th. <br /> What was thought to be the only leak was located and repaired late Friday. A water test revealed yet another leak was present. They returned on Saturday and found the leak and yet another leak passing thru a concrete beam and had to do additional digging to bypass the beam failure and route line around beam to the other side of beam to repair. Hole was refilled on Monday the 3rd ahead of the rain. Extra dirt was carried via front-end loader to back of property with the statement that after the rain and the hole settles they would return to add more dirt back to hole. Tractor with frontend loader as of this writing still sits in ditch by the house. <br /> Overall the experience was good and I would use them again with some additional requirements.<br /> Pros:<br /> All persons of which I interacted with (6) were very friendly,  responsive and professional<br /> They did in my opinion know what they were doing(done a bit of plumbing myself in my day).<br /> They did seem to care about doing the job right<br /> They showed up when or near times they said they would<br /> They did a good grounds cleanup<br /> They did get the work done by the time I requested, even with additional leaks found.<br /> The original bid was the final bill even with additional work done to fix additional leaks<br /> Cons:<br /> Some communication failures:<br /> If I had not re-inquired about bid, work could not have been done by requested time.<br /> Communication of findings of workmen/management was poor. Knew of 1st leak and 2nd leak, not third until I called with a bill question.<br /> The 5% coupon presented on Angie's List was not detailed on bid or bill but I was told it was already deducted. ???<br /> Although not a perfect experience, I have had far worse. Other than some easily correctable communication and bill presentment issues, I have found no fault in their craft.  <br /> I would use them again in the future <br /> </p> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Hillsboro, TX

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
