"He did a great Sales Offer and was great when starting landscaping/ grading to level ground for foundation. But once the building parts were delivered he stopped working They dug the perimeter to the building. The dumpster was repossessed late at night. Two weeks later they came and picked up all their machinery. Trey said he was waiting for 3 days of dry weather to lay concrete. We had 10 days in April. We were already passed first promise due date of April 1st. But now he says he is waiting on inspections. 1st inspection failed due to uneven foundation sand and deer prints, Permits were not collected in February as was told in February that he was getting them with signed documents from me giving him permission to get them. All payments made prior to March to keep workers on the job. They did not fulfill their end of agreement to be paid in advance, Flood vents were suppose to be ordered in January with rest of garage -- done by call to Spry Steel via conference call by Tres, me and Samantha of Spry Steel. Somehow they were overlooked and had to be reordered in May, after second completion date of May 1st. Tres has made no attempt to get anything done since perimeter dug. Last I heard he was having trouble getting inspection of dugout perimeter to get concrete. But I have been told by other contractors that they area is not dug properly and the plastic and rebar need to be spread in the area where building is to be built. The rebar and plastic are sitting in puddles of mud where it has rained over the months and Trey has not bothered to move. Rebar has grass and weeds growing over it. Plastic is becoming useless as it deteriorates in the sun and mud."

"INCOMPETENT, DESTRUCTIVE, DISHONEST -- Stone interiors, LLC installed quartz countertops in my kitchen in January of this year. This company is so incompetent that they literally ruined the $3,477.50 product I paid for. In addition, they damaged a $2000 console and refuse to admit liability. I tried working with them regarding the countertops and gave them multiple opportunities to correct the work they'd done, but every time someone came out, they just made it worse! They couldn't get the seams right and left adhesive/epoxy all over the place. They sent someone out to try and correct that issue, and he manually sanded certain areas, which altered the actual surface of the material so it's horribly streaked and inconsistent. BUYER BEWARE - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING!!!"

The depth of decomposed granite depends on the load the surface will support. For a vehicle driveway, install decomposed granite six inches deep. For pedestrian areas, use three inches, and for decorative surfaces, one inch will suffice. Heavier loads require thicker layers to ensure stability, drainage, and longevity, while lighter uses can maintain their appearance with less material.
One cubic yard of decomposed granite covers 54 square feet when laid to a six-inch depth. This conversion is derived by dividing the volume in cubic feet by the depth in feet. The calculation is fundamental for project planning because it converts three-dimensional volume into the two-dimensional area of coverage. Due to potential settling and compaction after installation, pros recommend an extra 15% to ensure the installed layer meets precise design requirements and maintains robust stability over time.
Determining whether a base layer is necessary for decomposed granite installation requires careful assessment of your project needs. A base layer of crushed rock or gravel provides essential support, improved drainage, and enhanced stability. Utilizing a solid base improves the overall structure by absorbing weight, reducing erosion, and extending the life of the surface. Additionally, a properly compacted base layer minimizes shifting and settling, ensuring that the decomposed granite remains evenly distributed and effective over time.
