"It went really well.  We live in a 60-year old home, and this sink was one that I found at a thrift store, believe it or not, for $19.98.  It was brand new, and my husband said it was a top of the line name brand.  I was so happy after taking measurements that everything would fit.  Our old ceramic sink really became sort of nasty looking, no matter how much Comic I used, plus the faucet was leaking.  I also know I could have had the ceramic sink refinished, but finding this sink the way I did, felt like an omen of sorts.  The sink actually had a new facet and side hose already attached, and I know those alone are very expensive, so I got a heck of a deal.  What's nice is I have never had a dishwasher after 35 years of marriage, and now I at least have a hose to help rinse dishes off, and it is located close to my Keurig coffee maker on the counter that now all I have to do is use my hose to fill the reservoir rather than keep a measuring cup nearby.  <br /> The plumber showed up on time and did end up having to leave for parts a couple of time (for which this time was not charged for), and he did a great job.  Southside Plumbing honored my Angie's List coupon, which helped with the cost, as well.  The plumber also suggested putting in shut-off valves under my kitchen sink for a very minimal cost, which is nice because now if we have sink problems, we won't have to go to the basement and shut all the water off.  <br /> Kudos to Louise, the plumber, who went out of his way to not only get the sink put in and working, but everything was spotless when he left.  Thanks Southside Plumbing! <br />"

"They are affordable and fair. They were prompt. We had a plumbing emergency and they were able to come the next morning. Their quote was lower than the previous. They were very quick and efficient."

"A maintenance check by another firm revealed $1,500+ of needed repairs for a 14-year-old builder-grade system. We asked that firm for a bid on a new system. That firm was fine, reputable, and honest, but the bid seemed high for a rather modest system - 80% and 14 SEER. A coworker recommended Interstate. The job was done well and explained to us for ongoing maintenance. Total cost was much more reasonable for a better system. I've recommended Interstate to a couple people since and will continue."

"We have a home warranty, so we are assigned contractors. Our water heater pilot light wasn’t working and we had a small gas leak in a house pipe. We were assigned a plumber who did not answer our calls or the warranty company’s call so I was allowed to use my own plumber. Rooter Man showed up within an hour and fixed the leak and water heater. We have used Rooter Man many times to clean our sewer lines, and love how professional they are. They also replaced our dishwasher, which they had to come back for due to the fact we needed an electrician before it could be installed. They came back as soon as the electrician was done, in fact, the electrician was here and they collaborated the installation. I ended up not needing something because Jared with Rooter Man worked with the electrician. This saved me $50 on the electrician bill. Their customer"

"Liberty plumbing was very punctual and was able to squeeze me in during a short timeframe. Needed hot water sooner rather than later. Came in on a Monday and was able to install it the next day. Very courteous and honest about what needed to be done. Also was upfront on charges so I knew what to expect. Would definitely hire him again."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Honey-creek, IA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
