"We had four area companies evaluate and quote the replacement of a gas floor furnace for our mill house. We have been very happy with the performance and lack of blower noise for the furnace, but it is difficult to find a company that still handles them. We got everything from "the city is going to condemn your house unless you do this or that, and you'll need to find another additional contractor to handle some of the work" to "we can't do the job without a large outlay to meet city codes". We were fortunate to contact Dave at AccuAir and he was both familiar with the furnace and was way ahead of the game on how to install the unit to pass the building codes. The team from AccuAir was extremely professional, personable, fast, and neat. The quote was ideal for our budget and the installation passed city inspection without a hitch. It was so great to deal with a company that knew what they were doing, weren't trying to upsell you into something expensive, and did not use scare tactics. We would not hesitate to use AccuAir again, and feel very comfortable recommending them."

"We had a shower faucet handle break and at the same time, decided to not turn off fully. I knew it was coming and had previously bought a whole faucet kit. When the faucet broke, I pull off the old cover and saw copper piping and knew this was not a job that I could do. After seeing the reviews here we called Robert Sunday afternoon. First thing Monday morning, Robert called and was here within an hour. He explained to my wife that the kit I bought would be a big, expensive job and he could just fix the faucet that was already there. Plus I think I bought the wrong kit to begin with. :) He was finished in an hour. New handle and overhauled the faucet. Very professional and pleasant. We have a new plumber! :) <br />"

"Pronto used listening device to locate an underground water pipe leak which we suspected because of high water bills and collection of water on the surface. The location they indicated was about 6-7 feet away from the actual leaks (it turned out that there were 3 breaks in pipes over a span of 10-12 feet). <br /> <br /> Pronto arrived when they said they would, were friendly and business-like and did what they could to find the leaks. The fact that the location indicateed was not real close to the actual leaks meant that we had to do a lot of digging to find and repair the leaks (which we did ourselves because of the very high cost to have a professional do the work). <br /> <br /> The bottom line is that the technology available to find underground water leaks isn't very precise. <br /> <br />"

"Chinook Plumbing came out to determine why our Grundfos water pump was making more noise than it should. They were great in being willing for us to send them an audio file electronically which they sent to the pump manufacturer. They used the information sent from the manufacturer and worked with us to problem solve some possibilities of why the only 2 year old pump became ruined. Jesse and Teri went the extra mile for us, pressing their distributor to honor our just expired warranty on the pump. We received a new pump and Jesse came out to install it and replace a water line from the water tank to the house. It wasn't an easy job. His work was professional, careful and he took the time to explain to us what he was doing and how to maintain our water system for the future. He was respectful of us and of our house as he kept everything clean. We are satisfied customers and would work with them again in the future."

"I purchased a dishwasher and an above-range microwave from Costco, both within a few months of each other. (Rats chewed up my former dishwasher's wiring and ruined the whole unit.) On both of these installations, my experience with A-1 was nothing but very positive. These guys really know their way around kitchen appliances! They had some issues with removing the old microwave, but Cole figured out a workaround and managed to get the thing out. Our only real issue has been with Costco, because the store doesn't bother checking with A-1 before setting a delivery date. Then A-1 has to change the date because they're backed up. That glitch is all on Costco, not A-1. We've had many contractors and installers in our home, but A-1 is the best! You can count on them to work quickly, efficiently, and carefully. They're very courteous, too. God bless A-1 Installations! (I wasn't compensated for this review, by the way.)"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Hood River, OR

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
