"This experience has been a nightmare of frustration. Gilbert from G&I Appliance Repair contacted me on 4/20 about repairing our refrigerator. I explained to him the refrigerator is slightly cool but not cold enough, and the freezer just cold enough to keep ice from fully melting, but will not freeze anything solid. He advised it was a compressor problem without going to my home to do a diagnostic look over. I told him I had tested the fans and the compressor, and they were working. The problem was they were not blowing cold. He insisted it was a compressor problem, and advised me he was an expert and to trust him. He came to my home on 5/1 and replaced the compressor, said it was fixed but it would take a few hours to cool. He charged me $603 and left. I messaged him that same night and told him the refrigerator was still not working. He came back the next day and worked on it, told me it was now working but to wait another 24 hours for it to start cooling again. I once again brought up the fact that the old compressor was working fine and it appears he fixed something that was not broken, and the actual problem is something besides the compressor. He assured me it was the compressor, that he had fixed it and it was now working. On 5/2 the refrigerator was still not cooling effectively and was functioning exactly as it had been when I initially requested a repair. The freezer would not freeze all the way and refrigerator would hardly cool. I called Gilbert and told him neither the freezer or fridge were cold enough, and he asked if I had used a thermometer to gauge the temperature. When I told him “no,” he questioned how I could possibly know it was not cold enough. The curdled milk and fruit flies flying around it are a strong signal that it isn’t cold. Even still, I don’t need to know exactly how much someone weighs to tell of if they are fat. Gilbert offered to come back out and diagnose the problem, but I had already paid $603 dollars for a needless compressor repair. Gilbert now thinks the actual problem might be with the 3-way valve, but he is not certain and he wanted to come back to my house. I asked him why he replaced a fully-functioning compressor if the problem was elsewhere, for which he cannot provide an answer. I told him I wanted a refund, and even went so far as to pay him for a diagnostic fee, which is generous considering he never came out to diagnose the problem in the first place, and he still does not know why it is not cooling. Gilbert suggested I was trying to scam him and was lying about the refrigerator not working just so I could get a refund. He refuses to refund me. I’ve used Angi for several repair needs, and this is the first one with whom I’ve had a bad experience. It’s been awful to say the least. Pathetic, to say the most."

Frost-free faucets incorporate special design elements that prevent water from remaining in exposed sections during freezing temperatures. The actual valve mechanism sits inside your home's heated wall cavity, allowing any water in the exterior portion to drain completely when turned off. This design significantly reduces the risk of burst pipes and costly water damage during winter months. Though slightly more expensive than standard models, frost-free options provide valuable protection and peace of mind for homeowners in regions experiencing seasonal freezing.
Most standard outdoor faucet installations can be completed within one to two hours when replacing an existing fixture or adding to readily accessible plumbing. Projects requiring new water line installation, wall penetration, or specialized fixtures like yard hydrants will extend this timeframe considerably. Preparation work, such as accessing interior walls, running new supply lines, or installing backflow prevention devices, adds to the overall project duration. Having materials ready and providing clear access to work areas helps minimize installation time.
In regions experiencing freezing temperatures, frost-free or freeze-proof faucets protect against winter damage. These specialized fixtures position the actual shut-off valve deep within the insulated wall space of your home, allowing exterior portions to drain completely when closed. Additional cold-climate considerations include proper slope for drainage, adequate insulation around pipe penetrations, and potentially adding dedicated shut-off valves for seasonal isolation. The modest additional cost of cold-climate faucets is insignificant compared to the potential expense of repairing freeze damage.
